Bailey Perry (mom) and Dante Cocchiarella (dad) were thrilled to welcome their "New Year’s miracle.” Like her daughter, Perry was also born at NSUH, a coincidence she likened to the Lion King’s "circle of life," describing Rocky's birth as their "Lion King moment.”

This milestone reflects continued progress in advancing comprehensive transplant services. Expanding access to pancreas transplantation brings new hope and options to patients across Long Island and beyond.

A major milestone for transplant care on Long Island.

Northwell Health has received approval to launch Long Island’s first adult pancreas transplant program—based at the Northwell Transplant Institute at North Shore University Hospital. This new program expands access to life-saving care for patients across greater New York and southern Connecticut.

With this addition, North Shore University Hospital becomes one of just 59 adult transplant centers nationwide offering heart, kidney, liver, lung and pancreas transplants under one roof—bringing highly coordinated, world-class care to those who need it most.

This program represents a meaningful step forward in improving access, outcomes and quality of life for transplant patients in our communities.

We know that every NICU journey is unique and often challenging for families who make this unexpected stop before heading home.

In true holiday spirit, our team dressed some of our little ones in festive outfits—from gingerbread vests and a full reindeer onesie to Santa hats—and gifted holiday books and their first ornaments.

For Alison Stewart, talking is everything. When she struggled to speak, a CT scan revealed a mass on her brain. She met with Randy D’Amico, MD, director of the Lenox Hill Hospital Brain and Spine Metastasis Program, and underwent awake brain surgery. The mass was an infection, not cancer, and treatment with antibiotics helped her recover. Months of rehab helped Alison return to work, but speaking can still be a challenge.
