Three years ago, MTF felt the love from Music City at our benefit at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville, co-headlined by founding director Elvis Costello and the legendary Billy F Gibbons.

Featuring an all-star lineup—including Bill Evans, Jerry Douglas, Keith Carlock + more—the event raised critical funds for MTF’s mission to help injured professional musicians receive the shoulder, elbow, and hand surgeries they need to keep the music playing.

We remain grateful to our supporters who take the stage and fill the seats on unforgettable nights like this one

A wonderful night celebrating SaulPaul and his unique blend of rap, soulful guitar and storytelling at The Rosette alongside our friends at Austin Classical Guitar and some of our Austin community’s young performers.

MTF is thankful to connect with so many arts lovers, nonprofit allies and new supporters at events like the ATX Series, and for the opportunity to spread the word about our mission to help keep the music playing for all.

"I was in a bicycle accident and broke my hand in three places. I was unable to play guitar, keys, or even type on a keyboard."

Meet MTF beneficiary Sam Houdek, a Brooklyn-via-Austin DJ and multi-instrumentalist. "MTF literally saved the day. I had my injury on September 1st and had my first show with a new band booked on October 15th, with several paid DJ gigs in between. I was worried I was going to be out of commission for months. My surgery was so well-performed that I was fully recovered by the show."

Find out how MTF helps working musicians like Sam keep the music playing after suffering from upper limb injuries via the OUR CARE tab on our website -- and check out the new album from Austin band Daphne tunes featuring Sam on guitar & bass, out now!

Just a few of the warm memories from Jazzing It Up with MTF. Our dedicated donors, friends, sponsors & staff filled Parker Jazz Club for a night of incredible jazz and pure joy to support our mission to help musicians with upper limb injuries.

An all-star lineup of Bill Evans, Mike Stern, Gary Grainger, Leni Stern, Keith Carlock and special guest Diana Krall wow'ed a packed house to raise significant funds for MTF one year ago today.

We're grateful to everyone involved in helping us put together fundraisers like these, and we hope to see you at the next one. Join our band of supporters via the SUPPORT US tab on our website. Together we can keep the music playing for all.

It's the Year of the Horse!

The Horse symbolizes energy, bravery, resilience -- like the musician baring their soul onstage, putting their all into a performance, perhaps playing through pain...

MTF wishes a happy, healthy and prosperous new year to all who celebrate! 🎊

About the Musician Treatment Foundation

Musician Treatment Foundation was founded in late 2017 as the first nonprofit of its kind – in design, scope, and breadth – to assist in providing free specialized upper limb treatment and continuity of care for needful musicians at home and on tour.

To date, MTF has made it possible for dozens of uninsured and under-insured professional musicians in Austin and NYC to receive free orthopedic surgical and nonsurgical shoulder, arm, and hand care that would otherwise have cost over $1 million in total.

Now, we are building a nationwide network of ~100 orthopedic surgeons, hand-picked for their ethics and expertise, to join our efforts and help more musicians around the country.

MTF is overseen by a distinguished board of directors that contributes keen expertise in business, design, education, healthcare, law, technology, and of course music. The board is chaired by the founder, renowned orthopedic surgeon O. Alton Barron, and includes the legendary Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, and other luminaries in their respective fields.
