I can't sleep after realizing how completely Americans are being manipulated by the news...
In 1983, 90% of American media was owned by 50 companies. Today, just 5 corporations control 90% of what you see, hear, and read. News Corp, Disney, Comcast, Paramount, and Warner Bros control virtually everything Americans learn about their world.
But here's what will blow your mind: These aren't just news companies. They're arms of the military-industrial complex, dependent on government contracts and corporate advertising dollars. They can't report stories that might upset their paymasters.
CBS News CEO Les Moonves admitted in 2016 that Trump was "good for business" because "the media makes money" from conflict and controversy. News companies don't care about truth. They care about ratings and profits.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulates broadcast media, but most news today comes through cable and internet channels that have no government oversight. Cable news companies can broadcast whatever they want, and there's nothing stopping them from lying to you.
The most chilling example: CNN has admitted to using fake interviews and staged footage. BBC has been caught staging news events. Even the most "trusted" news sources have been exposed for manufacturing stories to push political agendas.
But wait it gets worse: Social media algorithms now control what news you see. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok decide which stories get amplified and which get buried. They call it "content moderation," but it's really censorship disguised as protection.
Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson, and other alternative media figures have been banned or demonetized for telling stories that mainstream media won't cover. When people try to get alternative news sources, they're called "conspiracy theorists" and removed from platforms.
I can't stop thinking about how Americans have become completely isolated from independent journalism. Most people get their news from the same 5 corporations, watch the same talking points, and believe they're "informed" when they're really just receiving propaganda.
The result is that Americans have completely different versions of reality depending on which news source they trust. We can't even agree on basic facts anymore because we're being fed different sets of facts by corporate controllers.
How can a democracy function when most citizens can't access independent journalism? How can people make informed decisions when the news is controlled by the same corporations that profit from war and corporate-friendly policies?
This makes me terrified that Americans are losing access to real news. Share this post if you believe people have the right to hear all sides of every story! 📺📱
