While on some level, all eating is emotional eating because humans are emotional creatures (the body communicates through “cr@vings,” physical & emotional sensations) here are 4 mental & emotional signs you’ve reached a point where your emotional eating bothers you ❤️🩹
1. you feel frustration, h@te, or disgust having to think about food.
2. you feel fatigued by having to think & plan for your next meal.
3. so overcome by food, you reach a point where nothing sounds appetizing, nothing sounds “good” … if you could, you’d be “done” with food. You’re burnt out.
4. negative emotional states follow afterwards like shame, regret, or vowing never again.
✨ So what’s needed in food relationship healing?
Historical, Political, & Pagan/Indigenous educations needed. Resources, mutual aid, reconnecting to Voice, Power & Agency, & Chosen family. Harm reduction in nutrition & self care. Storytelling & using voice & agency for causes & communities valued is needed for wellness….
