AZ Therapist Krystal Paquette McBride

AZ Therapist Krystal Paquette McBride Arizona Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy (2011) Safe enough to be vulnerable and lean into discomfort.

First, I want to thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Therapy Style:

I focus on creating an emotionally safe place. Safe enough to create change that may be desired or needed. My style is direct, compassionate, and caring. When appropriate, I use humor, transparency, and my own quirky personality to help create a safe environment and vulnerability. It is the balance of being client-centered (meeting clients where they’re at) and encouraging change (which sometimes includes calling out BS or respectfully challenging when needed).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Focused Areas:

My focused area of training has been family systems, trauma, addiction, mindfulness/body regulation, and anxiety. When an individual is ready and willing, I love doing inner child work. Additional areas of work are listed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Experience:
I have worked in different settings, such as community organizations, family preservation and reunification for families that have CPS involvement, and treatment centers. I have worked with children, adults, individuals, couples, and families.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credentials:
Bachelor’s in psychology,
Bachelor’s in Family and Human Development,
In 2011 a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Often times these situations have layers to them… and it is wrong that this therapist is quickly summing this up and dismissing others process.

Please know this is not okay!!
Therapist should not be overriding your experiences or boundaries.

If you have experienced this I am so sorry. Please know not all therapist operate this way.

Yes, social media can have some influence on this. However most of the time these situation didn’t happen over night.

Guidance and therapy directions are not a one size fits all, and discussing all the nuances would make this post very long.

I will sum this up as …
Adult children… you have every right to voice and honor your experience. You have every right to process your needs, wants, boundaries, and energy capacity and act accordingly to that.

This is not to dismiss parents experiences but to address the harm that this therapist may have caused.

Parents… it can be real easy to feel a therapist with this approach may be a match, but I would encourage to explore if this would just create an echo chamber. If you are looking for validation then yes therapist with this mindset may be applicable. But if you are looking for change or you are looking to one day to reconnect, I would encourage looking for therapist that can help you explore (in a non shaming manner) of what your adult child’s experience may have been, this is not without validating or dismissing your emotions or experiences, but to add the relational repair.
Again there is a lot that goes into this that can’t just be quickly addressed in a social media post of a snippet of an interview.

As a reminder social media is not a form of therapy. Therapy can not be provided through social media. Identifying harmful behavior on social media is not a form of therapy.

If you are needing support, please seek out professional help. It is appropriate to ask a therapist before starting services of how they would approach treatment and support around this.

ABC15 sits down with a therapist to hear what impact “no contact” can have on a family and the steps families can take to keep the door open to healing.
