If your child says “I don’t have to go” but their body says otherwise… you’re not crazy. 💛

P**p withholding isn’t defiance — it’s fear, past pain, and a body trying to stay safe.

When pooping hurts once, kids learn to hold.
Then the bathroom becomes a big-feelings place.

✨ Fear needs support, not force.

Bathroom anxiety often isn’t what it looks like.

When we pause long enough to understand the trigger, we can respond with safety instead of pressure.

Behavior is communication.

Save this for the moments you need the reminder 🤍

If your child struggles with toileting anxiety, stool withholding, or fear of the toilet — you’re not alone.

Often, the body needs regulation before toileting can feel safe.

Proprioceptive activities like animal walks, wall push-ups, and carrying something heavy can help calm the nervous system and support release.

🌱Interoception is how children learn to listen to their bodies—recognizing hunger, fullness, pressure, and readiness. When kids understand their internal cues, they feel safer, calmer, and more confident navigating daily life. 💛

Supporting interoception helps build emotional regulation, reduces anxiety, and strengthens lifelong self-awareness—one body signal at a time.

🤍 Like, save & share to help spread awareness about interoception.

When kids feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in their bodies,
it’s often not about behavior — it’s about nervous system safety.

Prone extension is a simple, body-based way to help kids shift out of fight-or-flight and into calm.

Lying on the tummy and gently lifting the chest, arms, or legs can:
• provide deep organizing input
• support posture and body awareness
• help the nervous system feel safe
• prepare the body for transitions — including bathroom routines

This isn’t about forcing calm or “making it work.”
It’s about supporting the body before asking it to do something hard.

Try it for just 5–10 seconds before transitions, toileting, or after a long day.

Small moments of regulation create big shifts over time 🤍

Save this for later & share with a parent who needs an easy, OT-informed tool.
Follow for calm, practical nervous-system support.

Did you know that before kids can explain how they feel, their bodies often show us first? 🤍

P**p withholding can look like behavior, but it’s often a child’s way of communicating discomfort or anxiety.

In this post, you’ll learn:
• Common body and posture signs
• Bathroom behaviors to watch for
• Emotional cues that are easy to miss

Early awareness matters — and noticing the signs sooner can make a big difference.

🌱When pooping feels scary, some children hide to feel safe.
This isn’t bad behavior or defiance — it’s fear and vulnerability showing up in the only way they know how.

Understanding why this happens helps us respond with compassion, not pressure. 💚

This is more common than you think.
