Recover with Tamara

Recover with Tamara I have been sober since May 6, 2009 and have been building a life of purpose. I am a licensed and internationally certified Addictions Therapist.

Online Counselor & Coach
Specializing in Addiction
Trauma Informed Practitioner
Arizona Life https://www.tamarakirby.com/ This Page is to support people who want to grow. I first managed my own trauma hidden by years of unhealed abuse of alcohol and drugs. Then, through my process of recovery and by working with thousands of people with substance use disorders, I have supplemented my practical knowledge and skills through clinical training, research, and education. I work with people in all stages of recovery world wide. Intensive coaching is offered to those who are just getting started. Then later, deeper dives may be taken to address irrational beliefs, unresolved childhood trauma, relational and financial concerns. I help clients learn that alcohol and drugs are not the problem alone. Substance abuse is also a reaction to past trauma that may have caused irrational and limiting beliefs, an overactive nervous system, and emotional dysregulation. I help my clients move through the healing process with integrative work on the mind, body, and spirit. Through healing comes a purposeful life. I live in Phoenix, AZ where I enjoy each day as an emotionally sober woman. I spend my free time hiking, biking, creating new friendships, serving my community and living a purposeful life. My greatest reward in life is the restoration of my relationship with my daughter. Addiction and my unhealed past prevented me from being the mother that I always wanted to be, but through recovery this relationship has blossomed and is beyond my wildest dreams. Today, my life has meaning and purpose and I strive to help others achieve the same fulfillment that I have in my life.

I felt so much shame around my drinking. I didn't realize that my drinking was actually a diagnosable illness with real symptoms and that I was not alone in this suffering.

This mornings sunrise, just a brief moment, when I was able to catch this during my morning meditation.

Sunrises have always been special to me since I got sober, it was the first thing I noticed when I stopped being hungover in the morning.

Over 16 years have passed and I still find them as glorious as I did in the first days of sobriety.
