Medicare/Medicaid approved. With our Palliative Care Program we work with patients regardless of ability to pay. Hope through Healing. Desert Valley Hospice and Palliative Care serves Arizona’s Maricopa county. Founded and directed by Patrick Sciara, MD, BCIM, we are a Medicare/Medicaid-approved, ACHC-accredited home hospice provider. In addition to helping patients with Medicare and Medicaid, through our Palliative Care Program, we work with patients regardless of insurance, ability to pay, or eligibility criteria. Our services work to improve quality of life during a very important time of life. We support both our patients and their family through advanced terminal illnesses. Always Caring. Always Here. We accept referrals every day of the year, 24 hours per day. Immediate response to referrals is available. Our nurses remain on call for patients and their families at all times. A Place for Caring Professionals. Our patients and their families receive coordinated care from a team of professionals according to each patient’s needs and preferences. Our team includes:

• Medical Social Workers
• Certified Nursing Assistants
• Hospice Chaplain
• Hospice Volunteers
• Bereavement Coordinator
• Palliative Care Coordinator
• Physical Therapy
• Speech Therapy
• Occupational Therapy

Medicare Pays 100%. When patients have Medicare, we accept that Medicare payment as 100% payment for covered services with no co-pay, deductible, or other out-of-pocket expenses for patients. This covers the services of home-visiting clinicians, all medications related to the hospice diagnosis, related medical equipment, and related medical supplies. Let’s Talk. This Valentine’s Day was all about connection, creativity, and love.💕 We had the sweetest time visiting Elysium Assisted Living Home , where we helped residents create thoughtful Valentine’s Day cards for their loved ones—offering a little help with the words when needed and lots of encouragement along the way.

Together with residents and staff, we celebrated the holiday through crafts that got creative minds flowing and hands moving ✂️💌 Crafting is such a great activity for seniors—it stimulates the mind, supports hand-eye coordination, and most importantly, brings joy. 💖

Valentine’s Day crafts with the seniors at Emerald Groves Inc. went extremely well! 💝

Helping seniors write their Valentine’s cards was incredibly rewarding and so sweet. One of the many special moments was helping a couple write their cards together as they celebrated their 68th Valentine’s Day.

At Desert Valley Hospice, moments like these are a reminder that what we do goes far beyond end-of-life medical care. We’re here to celebrate each moment of life, love, and connection, no matter the season. What a truly wonderful experience! ❤️

Recently at our event with Elysium Assisted Living Home , one of the residents wasn’t able to leave his room. So instead of letting him miss out, we brought the entire experience to him.
Laughter, smiles, and togetherness don’t need a specific room—they just need caring hearts. We’re grateful to share moments like these and to partner with communities that believe every resident deserves to feel included. ✨

While movies are always fun on their own, at Desert Valley Hospice & Palliative Care we prefer the full experience — complete with 🎥 movie trivia, 🍿 popcorn, and movie snacks. This time, we traveled back to 1951 with the sci-fi classic The Day the Earth Stood Still 👽✨

We just wrapped up our final showing of the newly remastered 4K UHD It’s a Wonderful Life, complete with a historical introduction and fun movie trivia. This month, we had the opportunity to share the original version of this timeless classic with senior communities across Maricopa County for the very first time. ✨🎬

Tonight’s New Year’s Eve showing at Friendship Village Tempe marks not only the end of this beloved film series, but also the close of our 2025 events. As we reflect on an incredible year, we’re grateful for every moment shared and look forward to welcoming 2026 alongside our patients, partners, and families. 💙✨
