It's Friday and I'm here on this great day to answer a question from a colleague.

"How do you offer health insurance to your caregivers?"

It can get very expensive for a business to offer health insurance benefits to caregivers (or employees), so you have to crunch some numbers and put some thought behind this one.

In my company, we started providing health insurance benefits in 2017. We used an outside company to price shop for us, and that helped us to give our employees a certain dollar amount for insurance, with the employee making up the rest. I’ve got more details on specific dollar amounts in the video.

Hey DavetheNurse here with a quick reminder to all of you watching that being an entrepreneur can’t ALWAYS be about work. You have to have balance - I say, take some time to yourself. Step back and remove yourself from worries of your business - take a moment to breathe.

Go play golf - even if your bad, or terrible in my case! Go for a hike, relax with your family, whatever it is that you can do to be in the moment on a fun activity. It may energize you, and give you a different viewpoint on something in your business. You’re going to be faced with bigger pressures in the weeks and months to come. Take some time now to get ready and be prepared. But don't ever forget to enjoy the ride!

In this video, I answer questions about the challenges that entrepreneurs may face as they start up a business. I can tell you that there are pitfalls you might have to leap over, and inaccurate information you get from people that lead you in the wrong direction.

Most importantly, I want you to learn about your ‘why’. I am not so concerned about the ‘how’ - that will come. I can teach you how to do something, but I want you to recognize why you are headed on the path you’re taking. That’s crucial.

Hi! DaveTheNurse here - Now that you’re going into business on your own, it’s important to have contracts to work with. Contracts are business agreements that are legally binding. These are important for you to know about and to use.

In this clip, I show you where to get information on creating your own contracts - I’ll show you where to find them online, and use templates offered by services like IncFile.

You won’t need all the different types of contracts right at the start of your own business, but you will want to know where to find them when you do need contracts.

“As a non-medical home health agency owner, what is the benefit to us working with a Medicare certified agency?”

Great question!

Over the past 14 years, we’ve worked with multiple companies that we would define as non-skilled or home care. That means their job is to make sure the family member is safe, has meals, gets transportation, etc.

Skilled practitioners take care of IVs, wound therapy, physical therapy. When you work with a skilled medicare-certified company like ours, you have a resource from a clinical perspective when the family member needs it because of a medical need.

Your agency can partner with us to provide the necessary clinical skills and maybe we can work together on future patients in the future. There are enough patients to go around, let’s both work together to make a difference for our community.
