Post TBI holidays and events can be fun AND overstimulating causing stress....β¨οΈπ€¨π₯³ππ§
Six quick tips:
1. Set an alarm for 40 mins for a quick nap to recharge for evening festivities
2. Carry a water bottle and sip when you feel nerves set in to help your nervous system
3. Earplugs and sunglasses can help with the lights and sounds that can overstimulate your nervous system
4. Use your organizational strategies now more than ever...shopping lists, calendar events, notes in your phone app...
5. Breathe in thru your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, then firmly exhale thru your mouth for 8 seconds for a reset for your nervous system
6. Set a time limit for events to save your energy. The party may be 3 hours but 1 hours may be enough to celebrate and save some energy for other needs.
