Ringing in the new year with this lovely feedback. Thank you so much, Ted! We'll be sure to pass your kind words along to Russell!

“Russell Horning immediately understood the difficulty I was experiencing. His professionalism blended with his empathic approach is something rarely found in many medical providers today. I am fortunate to have met him.” - Ted C. https://bit.ly/3v7CUzQ

As we turn the final page of 2025, try to recall the beautiful things that you got to experience this year and take some time to feel gratitude for them all.

Before the clock strikes 12, do these:

At 10:00 — Inhale self-compassion; exhale self-judgment
At 10:30 — Unpack your baggage; let go of the things that no longer serve you.
At 11:30 — Sit still, close your eyes, and then let your body soften, your jaw unclench, and feel your whole system come back home.
At 11:59 — Get ready to step into the New Year with resilience, hope, confidence, and the strength to reinvent yourself. Say this out loud: “I made it through another year. This is the year that I become the person I’ve been working toward.”

Remember, we’re here for you when you need extra support. We’re just a call away. 📞 (602) 510-6582.

Fireworks displays are the highlight of New Year’s celebrations. They bring joy and excitement to many. However, for those with PTSD, particularly war veterans and people exposed to gun violence, the pops, flashes, and smoke can spark dread, cause panic, or evoke memories they never want to relive.

If someone you care about feels uneasy or anxious when they hear fireworks, don’t dismiss it. Assure them gently that they’re safe, remind them where they are, and let them know that help is available.

For compassionate, holistic, evidence-based care for PTSD in Phoenix, reach out to one of our mental health experts here at My Buoyant Health. 📞(602) 510-6582

The holidays can trigger poignant reminders of loss. If you’re grieving, whether it’s a person, a relationship, a version of yourself, or the life you hoped you’d have by now, here are 5 gentle ways to navigate the season with compassion toward yourself.

1️⃣Let your emotions flow freely: Don’t force yourself to “be okay.” Tears, laughter, and emptiness are not mutually exclusive.

2️⃣Skip holiday plans that drain you: You’re allowed to say no, cancel, or leave early.

3️⃣Give yourself permission to rest: Grief is exhausting—mentally, emotionally, physically. Let yourself slow down without feeling guilty.

4️⃣Talk to someone who gets it: Whether it’s a trusted friend or a family member, an honest conversation helps you make sense of your loss and find ways to honor it.

5️⃣ Seek grief therapy: If grief feels too much to bear, seeking therapy helps you develop strategies to cope with your loss in a healthier, more productive way. We offer it here at My Buoyant Health. 📞 (602) 510-6582

When someone you care about tells you they’re thinking about ending their life, the words you tell them can either keep them here or push them to do the unthinkable.

Below are 5 things you should NEVER say to someone with suicidal ideations:

❌“You’re overreacting.” - Trivializes their pain and tells them their feelings don’t matter.
❌“Other people have it worse.” - Pain doesn’t disappear by comparison. This only adds guilt on top of suffering.
❌“But you have so much to live for.” - They know—and still feel unbearable pain. This creates pressure instead of comfort.
❌“Just think positive.” - If it were that simple, they’d already be doing it. Toxic positivity only worsens the problem.
❌“Don’t say that.” - Silences them. When a life is at risk, silence is dangerous.

Instead, respond with compassion:

✅“I’m here. I’ll never leave you.”
✅“Your life matters to me.”
✅“Let’s get help together.”
✅"I’m staying with you while we get through this.”

If you sense that the person is in imminent danger, stay with them, remove anything that they can use to harm themself, and reach out to the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline (988) or go to the nearest emergency room.

When they’re out of danger, gently encourage them to see one of our providers for mental health support. 📞 (602) 510-6582

🚨AWESOME FEEDBACK ALERT | Thank you so much, Kristen! This glowing feedback is the highest compliment we could ever receive. We’re honored to walk beside you on your mental health journey!

“Best place you could go for your psychiatric care. I’ve been a patient of Russell Horning for many years, and would never see anyone else. It is rare to find a provider who truly understands the value of harm reduction, such as Russell. He has provided the professional support I’ve needed throughout the highs and lows of my journey through life, and it is through his care that I eventually developed mental health buoyancy.” – Kristen L. https://bit.ly/3v7CUzQ
