The Soirée of the Season!
Our 3rd Annual Autumn Soirée was beyond anything we could have imagined!

An evening of celebration, purpose, inclusion, and possibility came together under The Opportunity Tree & to the sounds of The Phoenix Symphony, celebrating over 60 years of supporting people with intellectual disabilities. From the energy, to the atmosphere, to the music, and the connections shared — it's clear that our community is stronger together.

Halloween across the Tree ... Spoooooky & Spectacular! 👻

Our Maricopa campus lit up the with Pennywise Pandemonium taking our Members and staff to the depths of Derry with festive foods, mind bending decorations, aaaaall the Halloween jams🕺🧟, and a costume line-up that stole the SHOW!

In Phoenix, our Supported Aging Members also crushed the Trick-Or-Treat circuit in frightening fashion, while our Casa Grande and Avondale crews haunted their hallows... 🎃!

We stepped into a whole new world… and didn’t want to leave!
Our Members were captivated watching Aladdin JR. performed by the incredible cast of Empowered Theater & Arts & TheaterWorks. The energy and heart poured into every scene and song jumped off the stage as the show transported us on a magic carpet ride through this timeless classic! 💜💫

The best part? Experiencing actors of all abilities shine on stage and being inspired to do the same by getting to meet the cast after the performance🎭🎬🤝.

Big shout out to Empowered Theater and Arts for always breaking a leg and for continuing to create spaces where everyone’s light gets to shine.✨

The art of unity!
25 of our Members took part in the National scrollathon project at the Phoenix Art Museum this past week, part of a nation-wide art project led by the visionary Steven and William Ladd Brothers from New York!

This project is bringing together a wide range of cultural organizations, intergenerational audiences, and community voices from across Arizona, that will be shown first at the Phoenix Art Museum, then at the National Mall in Washington DC to be a part of the US' 250th birthday next summer.

The Opportunity Tree was chosen to represent AZ's disability community and each of our Members created a unique scroll telling their individual story — with a name, a purpose, and a powerful reason behind the creation. This experience is yet another reminder that when people of all abilities are given space, support, and purpose, the possibilities are endless.

To the art. To the future. To everyone having a place in our collective national story... see you in DC next summer!

Season Opener!!! 🌳🔥🏆
Fireslammer Nation is back for the 25/26 Special Olympics Arizona season! Over 80 Fireslammer Athletes braved the heat at the Palo Verde Area Bocce tournament for the season opener where SIX of our squads clinched GOLD & ALL of our Athletes brought the championship vibes! 🥇🥇🥇

👏 Congratulations to our team for setting the bar high and we're just getting started. Next up: BOOOOWWWLING! 🎳 Stay tuned for a high octane season, we're going all the way this year! Fireslammers on 3... 1, 2, 3 🔥🔥🔥🔥!!

💛 Giving back to our schools!🎒🍏
Our Aktion Club stopped by to help our educator community level up for their students! Our Members spent the morning sorting, packaging, and organizing school supplies that will go directly into our local classrooms.

Contributing time and talents to strengthen our community and support important causes, while developing real-world employment skills, is what our Aktion Club is all about, and we're here for it 💪.

A big thank-you to Treasures 4 Teachers for welcoming us back—we’ll keep showing up and making a difference, one school supply at a time. ✏️🏫

Our Members & The Phoenix Symphony are rehearsing a one-of-a-kind performance that tells the 60+ year story of The Opportunity Tree through music, visuals, milestones, and more. Each chapter of the performance celebrates a different generation of Members—those who’ve been with us for decades, Members forging ahead in their adult lives, those stepping into independence as young adults, and our Tree Fort youth Members who are busy shaping our future.

Experience the tastes of Jewel’s Bakery and Cafe , The Old Spaghetti Factory , and , be a part of the Soirée Silent Auction, and take part in curated campus tours of our dynamic & innovative environments to connect directly with our Members and in our Mission.

🥑✨ SEEDS of Success ✨🥑
When Janika first connected with our SEEDS Employment Services, she had a goal of finding a job where she could grow, be herself, and shine. With the support of our SEEDS program and one-on-one guidance, she ultimately landed a position at Sprouts Farmers Market.

And this month, she celebrated a huge milestone: two full years on the job! As a token of that achievement, Sprouts honored her with their special Avocado Pin—a meaningful symbol of the big steps she’s taken in her career.

For Janika, this isn’t just a pin. It is proof. Proof that she belongs in the workplace. Proof that she’s capable. Proof that when talent is given opportunity, it blossoms. That’s what our SEEDS program is all about—helping Members with IDD find jobs they love, keep them, and thrive in inclusive workplaces.

Everyone deserves the chance to build a career they’re proud of. Congratulations Janika, we're proud of YOU! 💚

A huge thank you to City of Avondale, AZ for supporting The Opportunity Tree with a Contributions Assistance grant 🎆🙏! This funding helps fuel our SEEDS Employment Services in Avondale, supporting our Members in finding, getting, and keeping community integrated employment 💼.

We’re proud to call the City of Avondale home to our Avondale Campus, and to continue building a community that embraces individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through inclusion, advocacy, and opportunity.

This week, we take time to recognize the important, impactful, world changing, and valued work of our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Your compassion, strength, and a deep belief in our Members’ potential makes our communities better and makes a real difference in this world.

Across our 4 campuses, 20 homes, and so many community settings, you empower, advocate, and work every day to help our Members (and in turn our entire communities) evolve into the best version of themselves. We see you, we appreciate you, and we value each of you for the person you are and the work you do- today, this week, and every day. 🌳✨
