Makin’ the Dough at LGO!! 🍩 🍰
Huge congratulations to Jeremiah; our newest Member to enter the workforce, and also the newest member of La Grande Orange Grocery and Pizzeria team in Phoenix 🍊!!

As a part of our SEEDS Employment Services 🌱, Jeremiah had been on a journey to explore transforming his love for baking into a career path with potential employers across the valley. What started out as an informational tour of LGO quickly turned into Jeremiah locking down a spontaneous interview 👔and then getting offered the job on the spot!! 👏🎉💼👨‍🍳 We’re super proud of you J, and can’t wait to see you bake your way to the top.

On to the next Games!
Straight out of the Guardian Games, your hometown Fireslammers rolled right into the Coca-Cola Special Olympics Arizona Sun Games at Arizona State University! From basketball🏀, to bag-toss, to Mega Connect 4 and more, we took to the courts and brought home the hardware as usual 🌟. Shoutout to SOAZ, ASU, Coca Cola, Coaches and all the volunteers who made this ANOTHER day for the books!!!! 🏆✨

Our SEEDS Employment Services team recently facilitated a property tour at The The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in North Scottsdale for 30 Westview High School ESS students to learn about real world job opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry! 🏨 Our crew got to tour various hotel spaces, the golf course⛳, the restaurants, 🍦 and banquet areas, the pool/lazy river🌊, the front desk, and got to discuss which jobs exist in all of these areas. The Training & Learning Director Dominic gave us great insight into the daily experiences of hotel staff, and shared important skills & habits needed to be successful in these jobs. At the end of the experience, over half of the students shouted, "where can I get an application!"; it was so impactful seeing bright young minds motivated to work somewhere exciting one day.

These experiences are part of our SEEDS Pre-employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) workshops, designed to prepare high school students for Competitive Integrated Employment Opportunities after graduation. Big thanks to The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, Dominic, and Westview High's future leaders! Let's get to work!

Last summer, the leadership team at Troon Country Club received an email from a mom. Her son, Alec, is 25, has autism, and wanted to work. She & Alec believed he just needed the right opportunity, and Troon gave him that shot.

Today?

Alec is part of the facilities team where he's working part-time, developing his skill sets, building confidence and belongs. Our SEEDS Employment Services team works alongside Alec when needed providing coaching and support every step of the way.

This is what SEEDS does; we don’t just help our Members find jobs - we help people build independence, purpose, and real-world success. Inclusive employment changes lives — not just for our Members, but for workplaces and communities too.

Special thanks to Assistant General Manager Cheri Brauer, Director of Facilities Jim Tharp, and General Manager Garrett Wallace for seeing the Opportunity in Alec. We're super excited to share that one of our newest Members 🌳Daniel is now a proud employee of MOD Pizza thanks to his hard work, dedication to his goals, MOD Pizza's supportive and inclusive environment, and with the help of our SEEDS Employment Services🎉!! Daniel works with customers, keeps the store neat and clean, and got busy in the kitchen yesterday making his very first pizza👨‍🍳!

This past week, our Southwest District of Kiwanis International Aktion Club's Supported Aging Members volunteered at the Arizona Science Center🔭 to help prep for the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF) happening later this month in Tempe!
We packed over 500 swag bags, organized supplies, itemized and color coded the contents of each bag🛍, while bringing our energy and vibes 🌀to this impactful community event! Big shout out to our friends at the Science Center for helping us positively impact our community! ✨
