Hendricks Gin is created through a unique distillation process using a combination of botanicals and the addition of cucumber and rose essences. Here's an overview of what creates Hendrick's Gin:
1. **Base Botanicals**: The core ingredients include traditional gin botanicals such as juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, and orris root, among others. These provide the classic gin flavor profile with a distinctive blend of herbal, floral, and citrus notes.
2. **Unique Botanicals**: In addition to the traditional botanicals, Hendrick's Gin is infused with two unconventional ingredients: cucumber and rose petals. This combination is added post-distillation, giving Hendrick's its signature fresh, floral, and slightly sweet flavor.
3. **Distillation Method**: Hendrick's uses a blend of two different types of stills—Bennett and Carter-Head stills. The Bennett still, a copper pot still, imparts a rich, oily spirit with more robust flavors, while the Carter-Head still produces a lighter, more delicate spirit. The combination of these two distillates creates a complex and balanced gin.
4. **Infusion**: After distillation, the cucumber and rose essences are added to the spirit, providing the final, distinctive flavor that sets Hendrick's apart from other gins.
This meticulous process results in Hendrick's Gin's distinct taste profile, known for its smooth, crisp, and refreshing qualities with a touch of floral and herbal complexity.
