This activity also supports proprioceptive input, timing, and bilateral coordination all while keeping it super fun and engaging! 🤩🌟

✏️⭐️Did you know?! ⭐️✏️

Pre-writing strokes (such as vertical and horizontal lines, circle, cross, square, diagonal lines, and triangle) develop in a predictable order before children successfully learn to write letters?

These simple strokes are actually building the foundation for handwriting and if they aren’t mastered, it makes forming letters on their own difficult - and these pre-writing strokes aren’t fully mastered until age 5!

Concerns about handwriting skills? Give us a call at 480-704-5954 📞

Loads of fun in speech therapy! 🙃🤩✨

Working on identifying emotions during turn-taking! Especially those BIG feelings that pop up when we have to wait. We practiced working through frustrations, taking deep breaths, and finding ways to calm our bodies before it was our turn again. Learning to communicate feelings is important!✨

Feeding therapy can be more than just food on a plate! 🍛🧆🍴

Sometimes it can look like crafts, play, messy hands, and a whole lot of creativity!

Creating a space where kids feel safe to explore, touch, smell, and eventually taste at their own pace without pressure helps to build positive experiences with food ✨✨

Check out these fun masterpieces made in some of our feeding therapy sessions!

✨✨Did you know? ✨✨ Children begin to show signs of hand preference between the ages of 2-4, but true hand dominance is typically established around age 5-6. Sometimes even later around 7-8. Variability is normal and factors including motor planning, posture, and body awareness can influence this timeline! 👋✍️

🛴 Why we love the scooter board in therapy!

They might just look 👀 like a fun ride across the therapy gym, but they are actually doing so much more than that! 💥

When kids lie on their tummy and pull themselves forward they are strengthening their shoulders, arms, and core muscles (the same muscles we need for handwriting, getting dressed, sitting upright at school, and playing on the playground). Same goes for sitting and using their feet to propel forward!

By steering around obstacles or following directions, you can also work on coordination, body awareness, motor planning, and listening skills! This type of movement provides important sensory input that can help children feel more focused and regulated 🌟🌟

Need inspriation for coming up with new calming tools or coping strategies for self-regulation?! Check out this wonderful example! Using a drawing book with special interest characters and associating colors to emotions🌟🌟🌟 insightful and oh so meaningful! ✍️🎨
