The Tia Foundation

The Tia Foundation Sustainable Health Solutions
for Rural Mexico In many rural communities of Mexico, even tiny, spartan health clinics are often scarce.

Most communities rely on infrequent visits from volunteer doctors. Using a “teach them to fish” model, the Tia Foundation trains and equips Community Health Workers elected by their neighbors to respond to emergencies and provide basic preventative care in remote communities of rural Mexico, where there are no doctors. We accomplish this permanent, self-sustaining solution for less than $5 per person because we establish programs that allow local governments to take over continuing education and resupply the robust medical kits our health workers receive. Tia currently serves more than 786,000 people. Our health workers provide vaccinations, deliver babies, manage chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension, and offer preventative education to anyone in their community who wants to improve their health and well-being.

We did it! Tia has officially reached 1 million people with life-changing access to healthcare, all thanks to our Community Health Workers and our incredible brigade who trained them in midwifery, CPR, the Heimlich maneuver, nutrition, diabetes care, first aid, patient stabilization for hospital transport, and so much more.

A huge thank-you to every donor who has stood with us over these 20 years. And a big congratulations to our newest health workers from Valle de Guadalupe!

Please join us in celebrating this remarkable milestone on Sunday, February 15th, from 12–3 PM at Encanto Park in Phoenix.
More details to come…

❤️ Los Altos Project Update

We’re officially underway in Los Altos, and the week is already full of special moments.

This program includes one of our youngest ever participants: Mari, a bright 10-year-old (turning 11 this week!) who is jumping into the course with incredible focus and heart. She’s quickly become a favorite of the entire brigade.

We also have a tiny new honorary brigade member on the team, Tadeo, Tamarha’s 2-year-old son, joining his mom for his very first Tia project. He’s been bringing smiles to every room we step into.

Moments like these remind us why this work matters. It’s about families, generations, and building a healthier future together.

More updates, stories, and photos coming soon!

Tia’s Historic Week ❤️

This week, the Tia Foundation launches one of the most important programs in our 20-year history... a project that brings us to our 1,000,000th life served.

Our team is on the ground in Valle de Guadalupe, in the heart of Los Altos de Jalisco, a region known for its resilience, community pride, and deep cultural roots. We’re also partnering with a neighboring municipality to expand the reach and impact of this program even further.

This moment carries deep personal significance for our organization. It’s not just a milestone, it’s home.

Los Altos is the hometown of our beloved brigade member, Tamarha, who has dedicated years to serving rural communities across Mexico. Her two-year-old son, Tadeo, is traveling with the team and is witnessing firsthand the same spirit of community service his mother grew up with.

As we stand on the threshold of 1 million lives served, we’re reminded that these numbers aren’t statistics, they’re stories. They represent families strengthened, communities stabilized, and generations empowered through sustainable, community-led healthcare.

Reaching this milestone in Tamarha’s homeland feels like a full-circle moment, a testament to why we do this work and who we do it for.

20 years.
1 million lives.
Endless impact.

More updates coming soon from Los Altos. 🌱🇲🇽

🎉 Exciting News from the Field! 🎉

After a week of hard work, dedication, and learning, our incredible Promotores are graduating a day early! 🙌

To make this moment even more special, the president of the municipality will be joining us today for the ceremony. We’ll be broadcasting the graduation LIVE on Facebook (Wi-Fi permitting) at:
📍 7:00 p.m. Guadalajara time
📍 6:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time

(And remember… we’re on Mexican time, so things may run just a little behind 😉).

This is such an exciting milestone. Our Promotores will now be certified to serve their communities with the life-saving skills and equipment they’ve worked so hard to master. It has been an absolute honor to teach them, and we are so grateful for their patience, effort, and willingness to learn. 💙

Today was packed with impact and community!

✅ We continued offering medical consultations in Santa María, where our team shared care and a lot of laughter with the kids of the town.

✅ We were honored to be invited to a delicious birria lunch with the president of the municipality of Cucula.

✅ And to close the evening, our future Promotores received hands-on training in CPR and IV administration, skills that will save lives for years to come.

Every day in the field is a reminder of why we’re here: bringing healthcare, education, and joy to the communities that need it most.
