March is Social Work Month.

Social Workers are on the front lines, helping individuals and communities so they can overcome personal and societal challenges and even thrive. Social Workers are also adept at bringing people and communities together – no matter their political affiliation – so they can find common ground and work to improve the welfare of all.

There are more than 810,000 Social Workers in the United States and it is one of the fastest growing professions in the United States, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Social Workers are in all areas of our society – with veterans, in schools, in social service and child welfare agencies, in adoption and foster care, in mental health care and health care, and in local, state, and federal government to name a few.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of Kristi Cook, a member of the ITS family from the West Clinic. Kristi will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband, Theo, and their family during this incredibly difficult time. Theo has also been a valued part of the ITS family at both the West and North Clinics, and we want him and the family to know they are surrounded by support.

Many of you have already asked how you can help support Theo and the family. We truly appreciate the kindness and compassion shown by our team. We will continue to look into additional ways to support them while respecting the wishes of the family and will keep everyone updated as we learn more.

We understand that this loss may be especially difficult for those who worked closely with Kristi and for those who work closely with Theo. Please take care of yourselves and support one another during this time.

As we learn more about the celebration of life arrangements or additional ways to support the family, we will share that information.

To help support the family during this time, we have set up a GoFundMe and meal train plus additional support with the help of Give In Kind.

Please keep Theo and the Cook family in your thoughts during this difficult time.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

ITS clincs had a field trip today with IOP students!

Pottery therapy uses the power of clay to help express emotions that words can’t always capture. By working hands-on, people can release feelings like anger or sadness while building mindfulness and self-awareness. This creative process supports healing, reduces stress, and encourages healthier ways to cope, promoting overall well-being and emotional balance.

On Friday, March 6th ITS West met with Saba and team at Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH). They are once again hosting their Community Interviews Project. 🎉 They will be at our Mesa clinic later this week.

These interviews, community health needs assessments (CHNA) help to learn about health issues, needs, and strengths in Maricopa County. It helps to understand what health issues are most important and how to fix them.

We are honored to take part in this critical activity.
