Therapy is expensive. Good, ethical, low-cost therapy resources do exist. When considering or looking for lower-cost options, the more recent trends have been sites like this. The ethics and legality of their platforms have long been a concern in the therapy community and now the public is taking note. If you need resources, check out more reputable sites like OpenDoor, PsychologyToday, or check your local Universities who offer low-cost services to the public.

So many of us have been handed down, or unknowingly allowed, or knowingly created a long, long list of worthiness prerequisites, a list of I’ll-be-worthy-whens. But here’s the truth of the matter: We are worthy of love and belonging now. Right this minute. As is.

Burnout. We’re all there. It’s exhausting. The good news? There’s a path through it.

In this episode of I talk to Drs. Emily and Amelia Nagoski about their book, Burnout.

I’ve been practicing their 7 “complete the stress cycle strategies” since we recorded the podcast and I must say: Total game changer!

HUGE learning for me: Dealing with the STRESSOR is just one part of dealing with burnout. The other part is dealing with the STRESS by completing the stress cycle and getting through that emotions tunnel.

“Field of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami, “it stimulates pressure sensors under the skin that send messages to the vagus [a nerve in the brain]. As vagal activity increases, the nervous system slows down, heart rate and blood pressure decrease, and your brain waves show relaxation. Levels of stress hormones such as cortisol are also decreased.” Touch also releases oxytocin, the hormone released during s*x and childbirth to bond us together. In other words, human touch is biologically good for you. Being touched makes humans feel calmer, happier, and more sane.”

Millions of people are being deprived of even the slightest physical contact during lockdown. And there’s a name for it: skin hunger

Staying home with a lot of "extra" time and still catching yourself not getting to that project, laundry pile, craft, creative project, or other things you used wish you could do and said "If I only had the time"? Check out this article and video from Business Coach Marie Forleo on being more "productive" -- that is productive on the projects that matter to you. What it boils down to is: eliminate distraction and underperformance habits (i.e. endlessly scrolling Instagram) and utilize our cognitive fuel in a way that feels good and rewarding at the end of the day. Maybe it's not procrastination you're facing, maybe it's cognitive fatigue trying to do all the things you think you "should" do before you get to the things you want to do.

Your time and energy is precious & limited: this simple 3-step process will help you stop wasting time & start doing the things that really matter.
