John Spooner, co-CEO of Greystone Communities, recently joined us to share with seniors how they can enter this year informed about the long-term value of retirement at Beatitudes Campus.
John shared three key benefits of an entrance fee plan:
1. Lifetime use of campus: You’ll have full access to all the activities and amenities our campus has to offer.
2. Estate preservation: You can be confident knowing your monthly fees will be predictable, and if healthcare is ever needed, it’s provided at a discounted rate.
3. Priority access to high-quality, private long-term care when you need it: It’s “care you know by people that know you.”
At Beatitudes Campus, residents gain certainty, predictability and a self-directed life in a community that best fits them.

Senior living can be a whole new language, and you might feel like you need a translator.
Our new series, Tips with Sara, is here to help you feel like a pro in senior living, or at least a master of the entrance fee! We’ve teamed up with Residency Counselor Sara Paull to share her insider knowledge on all things entrance fee. Our residents are always eager to learn new things. Recently Dolores Nolan, Community Relations Coordinator with Valley Metro, came to Campus to do a presentation on using the Light Rail & Valley Metro Bus System. After the presentation, residents took a field trip to the new MetroCenter Light Rail stop and learned how to buy tickets and rode the rail to Tempe where they had lunch at Loco Patron before returning to Campus in the afternoon.

In 1965, Beatitudes Campus began as a unique kind of retirement living community, combining senior living, healthcare and a holistic approach to wellness. Our founders fostered the open, welcoming spirit and vibrant learning of a college campus. Along the way, we expanded to meet the changing preferences of seniors and their families by adding new services, amenities and residential choices.
We’re proud to be an experienced, nationally recognized leader in independent senior living and senior healthcare, and a trusted part of the greater Phoenix community. We’re excited to continue growing and evolving, and we look forward to sharing Beatitudes Campus with you.
Beatitudes Campus Fast Facts
Rev. Dr. Culver “Bill” Nelson, a Church of the Beatitudes pastor, founded the community.
Dr. Nelson joined Rev. Dr. Everett B. Luther and other church visionaries to create a welcome alternative to nursing homes.
Beatitudes Campus was the first senior community of its kind in Arizona.
The campus was built on 25 acres within one mile of the Beatitudes church. The land was purchased for $25,000 per acre.
Beatitudes opened in May 1965 with the building now known as Plaza South.
Since then, the community has added more services and amenities, several residential buildings, a Health Care center, Town Plaza and more. We’ve embarked on a new master plan to offer even more residential options.
