Please join us in congratulating this week’s , Harriet Valenzuela!

Harriet is a highly valuable employee at the Nutrition Communication Center. She consistently strives to provide the very best customer service to our Veterans by politely facilitating meal requests according to patients’ diets and then clearly explaining diet orders. She also addresses patient concerns and provides service recovery with a smile. She demonstrates professionalism and leadership when computrition software experiences downtime and she provides feedback on any issues that occur.

Valenzuela does not hesitate or stress when working shifts alone during staffing shortages; she continues to deliver the best care possible. She is always professional when interacting with supervisors, RDs, co-workers, and other employees. Valenzuela willingly accepts additional responsibilities and often volunteers to stay late to assist her peers.

January is Cervical Cancer Screening Awareness Month!

Women Veterans have a higher risk of cervical cancer than non-Veteran women. VA wants you to have the health care you need to live your best life—one way to do that is to take advantage of regular health screenings. The good news is that you can receive your routine well-woman exam through VA if you are enrolled in VA health care. Screening for cervical cancer can help with early detection and may diagnose other treatable concerns, such as infections. If you have questions, need assistance, or need to enroll in VA health care, call the Women Veterans Call Center at 1-855-VA-WOMEN (1-855-829-6636) to get information and to be connected with resources.
