Phoenix VA Health Care System wants to keep you informed: Influenza activity is increasing across the country.
This year’s flu season is peaking later than usual—December and January—so it’s not too late to protect yourself.
A flu vaccine can take flu from wild to mild.
Getting vaccinated can reduce your risk of getting sick and help prevent serious flu outcomes, like hospitalization. Flu can also make certain health conditions worse—even if they’re well managed.
Veterans can receive a flu vaccination at any VA outpatient primary care clinic:
✅ No appointment needed
✅ Quick and easy
✅ Free for enrolled Veterans
If you’re 65 or older, ask your primary care team about a preferentially recommended flu shot that could be more effective at taming flu’s wilder symptoms.
Choosing to get vaccinated is your decision, and we respect that. If you haven’t had your flu shot yet, now is a great time to consider it. Every vaccination helps protect you, your family, and your fellow Veterans.
