What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming, triggering, or stuck.
It’s especially helpful when talk therapy alone isn’t enough, and when emotions feel stored in the body or hard to explain.
What EMDR might look like:
-Your therapist gently guides you to a memory or belief tied to current distress
-You may follow their hand or a light with your eyes, follow a sound pattern with your ears, or hold onto something that vibrates (“bilateral stimulation)
-As your brain processes, you may notice emotional release, body shifts, or fresh insights
-Over time, the memory loses its emotional charge and you replace it with a more empowering truth
EMDR can support healing from: trauma, panic, anxiety, identity-based harm, chronic stress, grief, and inner criticism.
