Most drugs illegal drugs funnel in from south of the border. Last I checked numbers 115 Americans die per day from overdose, that is more Americans dead in one year then Americans who died fighting the Vietnam War!

Family and friends can play a key role in substance abuse treatment. The intervention can be difficult but rewarding. That is why it’s important for the family unit to form partnerships in helping their loved one in recovery. It’s important to intervene as early in their addiction as possible. The more time they spend living the lifestyle the harder it is to battle as the loved one will grow in their network of unhealthy relationships and unhealthy habits.

The workplace can also play a big role in assisting their employees. Many workplaces offer Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) that can provide short term counseling and link the employees to the resources they need for detoxing and recovery. Employers can take it a step further and partner with mobile drug testing facilities that can help implement drug testing policies as well as train supervisors on recognizing signs and symptoms of drug!

I can not help but remember as a young teenager how I thought I was an exception to the rule. This drug can be fatal but many teens chose to ignore it or disbelieve the truth. I am glad AZ stepped up on this one!
