Trying to decide about surgery? Give PT a try! Here’s why…
1. It maximizes your ability to move pain-free. Physical therapists are considered movement experts, knowing how the body should move and spotting when something is wrong. They’ll treat movement problems to decrease pain and get you back to normal.
2. It strengthens the right muscles. Many times, injury and pain stem from muscle instability and weakness. Physical therapists can spot those weaknesses and give you strengthening exercises that prevent pain, injury, and ultimately surgery.
3. Because physical therapy is proven to be effective with pain management, many patients find it unnecessary to take opioids or have surgery. Avoiding opioids and surgery are two the biggest benefits for physical therapy as long-term pain management.

7 Words of Wisdom from our Physical Therapists:

1. Chronic pain doesn't need to control your life & shouldn’t stop you from activities you love.
2. Age doesn’t have to mean loss of strength, mobility & balance. We’ve all heard “use it or lose it” right?
3. Surgery or medication isn’t always the only or best option for neck & back pain.
4. Exercise can help you avoid falls, stay independent, strengthen bones & even lower your risk for chronic diseases such as diabetes & heart related issues.
5. Staying active and involved in activities you love is good for the brain & the soul. We all need good solid human interaction and to move our bodies.
6. Challenging ourselves keeps us engaged with life whether it’s a golf course or mountain summit we want to conquer or simply kids & grandkids we want to set the example for.
