Witch” was the first insult used to silence rebellious women.
The witch hunts were the first great documented femicide: more than 100,000 women executed in Europe between the 15th and 18th centuries.
They weren’t burned for practicing magic.
They were burned for disobedience.
Many were midwives, healers, and free women who dared to challenge the patriarchal order.
The bonfires were not an ending, but the beginning of a narrative.
Literature transformed witches into villains, a reflection of the collective fear of women with wisdom and power.
But the history of witches is, in truth, the history of resistance.
✨ Today, we reclaim ourselves as brujeres.
We gather to drink coffee, share knowledge, and recover our voices.
This is not only a story about witches…
It is about us, our roots, and our power.
