Black History Month/ Weekly Spotlight:
This week, we proudly introduce a true pillar of Fulfillment in Training: Coach Q.
His superpower? Connecting with kids, meeting them where they are, and coaching them up to be great. He doesnât just teach the game, he builds mindset, discipline, and confidence.
We asked Coach Q a few questions about his journey:
Coach Q is built from the grit of the Bronx. A graduate of the High School of Global Enterprise in Bronx, New York, he says the concrete, the culture, and the competition shaped his mindset early. That environment forged resilience that still defines him today.
In high school, he was never one-dimensional. He competed in basketball, football, and track â three different arenas with one mentality: outwork everybody. Each sport sharpened a different edge â speed, toughness, and discipline.
After graduation, Coach Q gave 10 years of service to the United States Army. A full decade of sacrifice, structure, leadership, and growth. As he puts it, âThe Army didnât just train me â it refined me.â
His heart for community started early. What began as a requirement for student-athletes became something deeper. He realized impact isnât about money â itâs about presence. Time. Energy. Showing up for people who need it. That revelation changed him.
Coach Q found FIT through a colleague and began showing up to events. The first time he met Steph, he says it felt like family â instant connection, no barriers. Since then, itâs been solid. âFIT isnât just an organization, itâs home â no matter the city, no matter the room.â
His advice to young people who want to become community servant leaders?
âStay true to who you are and believe in yourself when nobody else does. Your actions turn into habits, your habits build structure, and that structure builds your future. Discipline today creates freedom tomorrow.â
Coach Q represents resilience, leadership, and heart. Weâre grateful to have him building the next generation with us.
Thank you for your service!!!!!
