Black History Month/ Weekly Spotlight

Coach Jabari is a proud graduate of Betty H. Fairfax High School, where he stayed active both on and off the field. A multi-sport athlete, he competed in football, basketball, and track, later continuing his athletic journey in college with rugby and lacrosse. Beyond sports, he was also deeply involved in band, theater, step team, and drum line, embodying leadership, creativity, and school spirit in every space he entered.

What drives him every day?

“Life is my ultimate motivator. If there is blood pumping through my veins, then there is a reason to help, love, and inspire.”

Service has always been part of his DNA. Inspired by his mother at a young age, Coach Jabari learned the value of giving back early in life. What started as guidance from her turned into a lifelong passion. He shares his time and perspective freely, knowing that in serving others, he grows too.

When asked why he chose FIT, his answer reflects exactly who he is:

“FIT was everything I imagined community should be — love, compassion, and authenticity. Never judging, just inspiring and helping people where they are.”

His advice to the next generation of community servant leaders:

“Follow your heart and give without expectation. When you do, the true blessings reveal themselves.”

Coach Jabari represents leadership through action, heart, and consistency. We honor his commitment to uplifting others and building authentic community.

Black History Month/ Weekly Spotlight:

This week, we proudly introduce a true pillar of Fulfillment in Training: Coach Q.

His superpower? Connecting with kids, meeting them where they are, and coaching them up to be great. He doesn’t just teach the game, he builds mindset, discipline, and confidence.

We asked Coach Q a few questions about his journey:

Coach Q is built from the grit of the Bronx. A graduate of the High School of Global Enterprise in Bronx, New York, he says the concrete, the culture, and the competition shaped his mindset early. That environment forged resilience that still defines him today.

In high school, he was never one-dimensional. He competed in basketball, football, and track — three different arenas with one mentality: outwork everybody. Each sport sharpened a different edge — speed, toughness, and discipline.

After graduation, Coach Q gave 10 years of service to the United States Army. A full decade of sacrifice, structure, leadership, and growth. As he puts it, “The Army didn’t just train me — it refined me.”

His heart for community started early. What began as a requirement for student-athletes became something deeper. He realized impact isn’t about money — it’s about presence. Time. Energy. Showing up for people who need it. That revelation changed him.

Coach Q found FIT through a colleague and began showing up to events. The first time he met Steph, he says it felt like family — instant connection, no barriers. Since then, it’s been solid. “FIT isn’t just an organization, it’s home — no matter the city, no matter the room.”

His advice to young people who want to become community servant leaders?

“Stay true to who you are and believe in yourself when nobody else does. Your actions turn into habits, your habits build structure, and that structure builds your future. Discipline today creates freedom tomorrow.”

Coach Q represents resilience, leadership, and heart. We’re grateful to have him building the next generation with us.
Thank you for your service!!!!!

Black History Month / Weekly Spotlight

This week we honor our very own Navarro Whitaker, COO of Fulfillment In Training (F.I.T.) a leader rooted in purpose and community impact.

Graduate of Tolleson Union High School
Former Tolleson basketball player
Founder & CEO of The Reading Alliance a literacy innovation organization advancing early reading achievement through Science of Reading practices and community partnership.

Navarro’s commitment to community isn’t new, it’s foundational. From mentoring youth to building systems that close literacy gaps, his work has always centered on expanding access to opportunity through education.

After nearly a year of collaboration, Navarro joined F.I.T. because of a shared vision: empowering communities through complementary strengths, strategic innovation, and sustainable impact.

His advice to the next generation of servant leaders:

Today is Juneteenth!
Today, we honor freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865!! two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free!!!
It’s a powerful reminder that freedom delayed is not freedom denied and that our fight for equity continues.
At Fulfillment in Training, we are rooted in empowerment, community, and progress. We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, and we work daily to uplift future generations through sports, leadership, and service.
Let’s celebrate Black excellence!
Let’s honor the past!!
Let’s keep building a future that reflects true liberation for all.
