This evening my kids and I are spending time writing to the Health and Human Services Committee in the House of Representatives to ask for support on HB2251 and HB2252 as we work to make community birth safer in Arizona. We are advocating for:

💉better access to medications for CPMs
👏🏾 a Midwifery Advisory Committee within ADHS
🚑 allowing midwives in ambulances during EMS transfers

If you are someone who loves midwives, this is the week to SHOW UP. Write to our legislators, call them, and show up to the Capitol on Monday 1/26!

Last night our team got together for our monthly skills, drills, and birth bag restock! We drilled on shoulder dystocia and neonatal resuscitation this month. Both of these are complications that we don’t see often, but we drill on frequently so we are prepared if/when we need to be!

We also took time to celebrate our student Emily as she started school this week with as she pursues becoming a Certified Professional Midwife. 😍

2025 was a year of growth and change. The “us” of January 2025 would never believe it if we told them what December 2025 would look like!

So many things have changed:
-a new office space
-new midwives
-new students

And yet, so much remains the same:
-our love for midwifery
-our desire to provide the *best* care we possibly can
-our commitment to mentoring students and treating them well
-our love for learning and research
-our belief that pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period are sacred

We are so grateful for the many families that we had the honor of caring for in 2025. We look back on this year with deep gratitude for what has been and we look forward to 2026 with great hope for what’s ahead!

Another powerful 1st time birther who absolutely rocked her labor! It started and ended fast and furious. This mom didn’t know she was pregnant until more than halfway through her pregnancy and she still managed to prepare herself for a home birth in just a little over 10 weeks’ time.
