Heart disease doesn’t have to be a life sentence. If you’ve been told you have:
• Coronary artery disease
• A high calcium score
• Plaque in your arteries
• A stent or bypass in your past

You’ve probably heard something like this:
“Take these medications.”
“Try to eat healthy.”
“We’ll keep an eye on it.”

But here’s what patients never hear:

Heart disease can often be slowed, stabilized, and in many cases even reversed.

The key isn’t medication.
It’s understanding why your disease developed in the first place.

For some people it’s insulin resistance.
For others it’s inflammation, genetics, sleep apnea, stress, or lipoprotein(a).

Until you identify the root causes driving your plaque, you’re mostly guessing.

At HealthspanMD, our entire mission is built around one belief: No one should die of a heart attack. Ever. And when you discover your risks, define a personalized strategy, and consistently defend your health…

Heart disease becomes something you actively control… not something that controls you.

HealthspanMD is the only premiere medical practice focused on reversing heart disease and preventing heart attacks.

A year and a half ago, Claudio thought he was fine.

He ran a 6:42 mile.
He exercised three to four times a week.
He had a demanding, high performing career.
But his blood pressure was in the 170s.
He was gaining weight.
Not sleeping well.

So we ran a few tests, just in case. He had a 90 percent blockage in his LAD, the main artery of the heart.

He could have “looked healthy” right up until a heart attack.More than 80 percent of heart attacks are preventable. Many happen in people who felt fine.Claudio was scared. He had kids. A career. A life he was not ready to lose.

The difference? Early detection
• A cardiologist who looked deeper
• A clear, step by step plan
• A team that refused to settle for “here’s a prescription, see you in six months”

Today he is:
• 40 pounds down
• Blood pressure down 60 points
• LDL cut to a third of what it was

He says it best: “I had to get busy living.”

You can run fast.
You can look strong.
You can “feel fine.”But what is happening inside your arteries?

Sometimes the most dangerous problems are the ones you cannot see.

Most of our healthcare system is designed to react after something goes wrong.

At HealthspanMD, we take a different approach:
• Look for the root causes early
• Use advanced testing to measure risk before symptoms
• Create a clear, doctor-led plan

Hoping everything is fine isn’t a strategy.
And waiting for a heart attack or stroke can change a life forever.

With the right information, much of that risk can be identified and reduced early.

Should you choose between traditional insurance and concierge care?

Key points on how to approach health insurance and private-pay medicine from this discussion on the Healthspan Podcast between Dr. Hurst and Tom Blue:

• Be thoughtful about moving up the deductible on a health plan.
• Drop the health plan premiums by moving up the deductible.
• Reinvest the money saved from the reduced premiums into private-pay medicine.
• Avoid overinvesting in premium health insurance while simultaneously investing heavily in mitigating health risks.

In this powerful conversation, Dr. Robert Todd Hurst, MD, FACC, FASE sits down with membership medicine pioneer Tom Blue to unpack why the traditional healthcare model is failing, and what’s replacing it.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death because most care is built to respond after an event already occurs.

Many patients are seen for just a few minutes, told their numbers are “normal,” and asked to come back in a year.

During that time, heart disease can continue to progress quietly and unnoticed.

That is why heart disease remains the leading cause of death.

I believe no one should die from a heart attack. Ever.

We have the insights, technology, and clinical understanding to prevent most heart attacks today.

What is missing is a system built to act early, not one that waits for symptoms or emergencies.

There is a proven way to prevent and even reverse heart disease, but it requires a proactive approach that works upstream, before problems appear.

In my upcoming {{contact.webinar_title}} Webinar, I will explain the system I developed after leaving Mayo Clinic to provide patients with the level of care they truly deserve.

This approach is about understanding what actually drives heart disease and intervening early.

If you want clarity about your heart health and a system designed to protect it long term, this session was built for you.

Heart disease prevention and reversal are not one time events.
They are long term strategies.

Learn more about how I help my patients create a strategy for reversing heart disease: join.healthspanmd.com

01/06/2026

My Heart Disease Prevention strategy comes down to avoiding three things:

1. Preventable disease and premature death
2. Frailty and loss of physical independence
3. Cognitive decline and loss of mental clarity

If you avoid these three, you dramatically increase your odds of living a longer, more capable, more fulfilling life.
