Following hospitalizations in acute care facilities for complications from premature birth, illness, and injury, or when special services are needed, children and their families come to St. As the largest provider of long-term care for children with complex medical conditions in New York State and one of the nation’s leading providers of pediatric post-acute care, St. Mary’s provides a continuum of care, treating children throughout the metropolitan area through a network of inpatient, home care and community programs and services, setting a standard of excellence in pediatric healthcare. St. Mary’s was thrilled to welcome members of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society on Monday as they presented an incredible $62,500 grant and spent time with St. Mary’s Kids! This generous gift will help us replace outdated beds and provide medical-grade floor mats, ensuring comfort and safety for children with medically complex conditions. For 14 years, this amazing society has stood by St. Mary’s Hospital for Children, and we are deeply grateful for their unwavering compassion and support. On December 15th, we were proud to welcome Queens Borough President Donovan Richards to St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children in Bayside as he announced $992,000 in capital funding to support our mission and the medically complex children who rely on us.

This investment will help fund the initial outfitting of a new 18-bed inpatient unit on our 4th floor, currently being renovated and expanded—an important step that will allow St. Mary’s to care for 18 additional children and help reduce the waiting list for families seeking inpatient care.

We’re deeply grateful for Borough President Richards’ partnership and for the powerful remarks shared by Sean Lally, President & CEO, Dr. Carla Cangemi, VP & Chief Medical Officer, and Jennifer Love, a parent and advocate who spoke movingly about her family’s experience and the urgent need for specialized care.
