UMC Children’s Hospital is proud to be the region’s Children’s Miracle Network affiliated hospital…an affiliation since 1983 has helped to establish and continually secure the finest pediatric healthcare for all the Children of the South Plains and Eastern New Mexico region based on need, not their ability to pay. Since 1983, more than $21 million has been raised to purchase much needed pediatric medical equipment, fund valuable research projects, fund education and therapeutic programs, and enhance the overall pediatric health of the 18 official counties of the Children’s’ Miracle Network Lubbock market. While these eighteen counties comprise the official market area for Lubbock Children’s Miracle Network, due to our advanced medical departments and our teaching hospital relationship with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, patients are referred to the UMC Health System and UMC Children’s Hospital from a 108 county 350 mile radius.

Yesterday, students from Lubbock school districts gathered for an amazing cause!
They learned all about the 2026 Miracle Pennies Campaign, which raises funds for their local Children's Miracle Network at UMC Children’s Hospital! For two weeks in the spring, schools across the South Plains will ask their students and teachers to participate in fun activities to help raise money for kids benefiting from UMC Children’s Hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network.

Meet UMC Miracle Kid, Finn! Finn was diagnosed in 2025 with Burkitt’s Lymphoma, but that never stopped him from being himself! From the moment he arrived, he won hearts all around the unit.

Our nursing staff quickly fell in love with Finn. His smile, his bravery, and his big personality made even tough days a little brighter. He is a reminder to us every day why we do what we do. He’s strong, he’s special, and he’s a true Miracle Kid. We’re so proud to be part of his journey! 💛

This year, they donated $1,600 in gift cards, $2,200 in monetary gifts for children currently in treatment, and a delivery of toys and gifts that bring comfort and encouragement to our patients! 💛

Dr. Beck specializes in caring for children with hormone-related conditions that affect growth, puberty, thyroid function, and diabetes. With expertise and compassion, she helps kids and their families manage these complex conditions so every child can reach their full potential. Meet 2025 Miracle Kid, Kysen! 💛

Born prematurely with underdeveloped lungs, Kysen spent 95 days in the NICU fighting for every breath. He was intubated, placed on multiple respiratory machines, and received two rounds of steroids to help his tiny lungs grow. With the dedicated care of the NICU team, Kysen grew stronger each day, eventually going home on oxygen and a feeding tube, and by 11 months, he no longer needed the tube at all.

Today, he’s thriving and full of smiles, a powerful reminder that miracles happen every day. We’re proud to celebrate Kysen as a 2025 Miracle Kid! 💛
