In addition to holding wheelchair clinics, helping people who use wheelchairs gain better mobility and independence, the CPU team has also delivered The Hubscrub Company wheelchair cleaning machines to fellow disability service providers, empowering them to also clean chairs with regularity and reliability.

To date, 3 machines have been delivered to Jawonio, Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, and UCP of Long Island, allowing these organizations to better deliver on their missions and provide safe and hygienic conditions for the people they support.

CPU has launched Together We Work, a three-year program to train people with developmental disabilities to serve as Peer Specialists.

Together We Work is offered in partnership with the New York State Council on Developmental Disabilities who help support and fund this project.

CP Unlimited was selected by The New York State Council on Developmental Disabilities (CDD) to launch Together We Work, a pilot program to train people with developmental disabilities (DD) to serve as Peer Specialists in group home settings

ONE CLICK FOR CHANGE: Across New York City, the vast majority of public restrooms lack height-adjustable adult changing tables. Without them, caregivers assisting adults and children with significant physical or developmental disabilities have few safe and hygienic options. Families often find themselves forced to improvise and some resort to changing loved ones on restroom floors. Others retreat to vehicles in parking lots. Many simply cut outings short because the basic infrastructure needed to support their family members does not exist.

That can change with the Traveling with Dignity Act (S. 4042A / A. 6219A) in the NYS legislature. Read our newest essay and take 30 seconds to demand its passage:

When caregivers know that appropriate facilities are available, families are more likely to participate in community life. Parks become accessible destinations. Cultural institutions become viable outings. Public events become inclusive spaces rather than logistical challenges.

She brings a wealth of experience as owner of Pemberley Estates, Inc. and partner of Kramer Enterprises, Inc., helping prepare, build, and manage residential and commercial projects throughout the borough.

Diane’s further advocacy and expertise as President of World of Women, Inc. and involvement as Co-founder of The Foundation For Dignity, Ltd. spotlights her commitment to underserved populations, mirroring the Agency’s mission to help people with disabilities and those seeking housing assistance.
