What if part of the autism puzzle involves toxins + disrupted cellular signaling?
Emerging research is looking at something most people never hear about: the nitric oxide (NO) pathway — a tiny signaling system that controls blood flow, mitochondrial energy, and cellular communication.
When this pathway becomes overactive or dysregulated, it may contribute to:
⚡ Oxidative stress
🧬 Mitochondrial dysfunction
🔥 Neuroinflammation
environmental toxins (pollutants, heavy metals, chemicals, infection) could interfere with these pathways in vulnerable individuals.
And here’s where it gets interesting…
Researchers studying cellular energy have also looked at methylene blue, a compound that shuttles electrons in mitochondria and influence nitric oxide signaling along with supporting mitochondrial function and reducing oxidative stress.

Delayed ✈️ out of JFK headed to Charlotte for MAPS.

Airport lounge office this morning- coffee in hand, laptop open, catching up on research and charts before taking off. One of the unexpected perks of integrative medicine… your “clinic” sometimes becomes a quiet corner of the airport lounge.

🔎The first few minutes of a PANS/PANDAS consult can often tell me more than any lab panel. It’s not about trying to diagnose on the spot, but rather about identifying what kind of immune inflammatory fire I’m dealing with.

There have been a lot of new followers here lately, so I thought International Women’s Day would be a great opportunity to reintroduce myself, and the WHY behind the work I do.

🌳I’m Dr. Somer DelSignore, a pediatric board-certified integrative provider and the founder of Hudson Valley Integrative Health. This practice was built for families who know something isn’t right and are searching for answers that go deeper than quick fixes or symptom labels.

Much of my work centers on children with complex, neuroinflammatory and infection-driven conditions surrounding tickborne diseases, PANS, Autism and congenital vector-borne disease. I do this for the kids who are often misunderstood, and parents who are doing everything they can to advocate for them. I believe healing starts with listening, with curiosity, and with treating the whole child, not just isolated symptoms.

💪Today is a reminder of the strength of women, especially mothers, who trust their instincts, ask hard questions, and keep showing up for their children even when the path isn’t clear. It’s an honor to walk alongside families on that journey and help them find clarity, hope, and healing.
