šŸ’šFor many families navigating PANS/Autoimmune Encephalopathy, the symptoms can feel sudden, confusing, and overwhelming—tics, OCD, anxiety, emotional swings, regression, intrusive thoughts.
But behaviors like tics, OCD, anxiety, and emotional swings don’t come out of nowhere. They’re often the result of a complex immune response happening beneath the surface.

When the immune system becomes dysregulated, many times from an infection or toxin trigger, it can mistakenly target the brain, impacting areas responsible for mood, movement, and behavior.

This is why understanding the why behind symptoms matters so much. Because when we shift the conversation from behavior to biology, we open the door to real, root-cause healing.

You’re not imagining it. And your child isn’t choosing this.

šŸ‘‰ Follow along as we continue to break down PANS/Autoimmune Encephalopathy and what true healing can look like.

A major new review published in Frontiers in Medicine confirms what many of us have observed for decades: Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria behind Lyme disease, can cross the placenta. Perinatal transmission is real. 🤰

This is not entirely new information. It is a comprehensive body of science, built over more than 40 years, now clearly summarized for the medical community.

🌳In my clinic, I see the impact of this every day. Children and adults presenting with neurodevelopmental challenges, neuroinflammation, and complex neurological patterns that may trace back to congenital tick-borne infections.

This is why I continue to speak, teach, and push this conversation forward. The connection between congenital infection and neuroimmune patterns cannot be overlooked.

This matters for mothers, for children, and for families. Recognition is the first step toward better care. And the conversation is beginning to shift.

šŸ“¢If this resonates, share it.

When a child is struggling with Lyme or complex chronic illness, it’s never just physical.

šŸ’šThere is an emotional toll that impacts the entire family—especially the parents who are fighting to be heard, often while being told everything is ā€œfine.ā€ I see this every day in my practice.

In my recent conversation on the Love, Hope, Lyme podcast with , I open up about the emotional cost of pediatric Lyme disease, what families are really going through behind closed doors, and why validation, listening, and a root-cause approach are so critical to healing.

This is a conversation for any parent who has felt dismissed, overwhelmed, or alone on this journey.

šŸ’”If your child suddenly developed OCD behaviors, it may not be ā€œtypicalā€ OCD.

One of the biggest differences with PANS/PANDAS is how quickly symptoms appear. Many parents describe an overnight change—sudden anxiety, intrusive thoughts, tics, or behaviors that feel completely out of character.

🧠This is where so many families get stuck. These symptoms are often treated as purely psychological, when in reality, PANS/PANDAS is a neuroimmune condition that may be triggered by infection and toxins causing inflammation.

If your child’s symptoms feel abrupt, intense, or don’t improve with traditional approaches, it’s worth looking deeper.

🌱Follow along for more guidance on understanding root causes and supporting your child’s healing journey.

What if some children diagnosed with autism are actually dealing with underlying infections like Lyme 🧠

In this in-person Tick Boot Camp studio interview, Dr. Somer DelSignore explains how Lyme and co-infections can drive symptoms many families are told are ā€œjust autism.ā€

We’re talking about OCD, anxiety, rage, regression, and sensory issues — all potentially linked to immune dysfunction and hidden infections.

This doesn’t mean it’s every case.
But it does mean this is happening — and it’s being missed.

Experts strongly disagree on how much autism may be tied to infections like Lyme… and that debate is far from settled.

If you’ve ever felt like something deeper was being missed… you’re not alone šŸ’š

If your child has PANS/PANDAS, end-of-year testing can feel overwhelming this year—for both of you.

These kids are not ā€œjust anxiousā€ or ā€œnot trying.ā€ Testing challenges their executive functioning and working memory, placing real strain on their brain and nervous system. This impacts focus, memory, and stamina. This is more common than you think.

A few ways to support them:
āœ”ļø Prioritize rest, nourishment, and nervous system regulation
āœ”ļø Lower pressure at home and focus on emotional safety
āœ”ļø Communicate with teachers so they understand your child’s needs and can offer support like extra time or breaks

You are your child’s greatest advocate. Trust your instincts and be proactive! Collaborating with educators and your medical team for support can make all the difference in how they navigate this season. šŸ’›

Ticks can sneak into your child’s life in ways you might not expect. 🐾

Here are 3 Lyme prevention tips parents often overlook:
1ļøāƒ£ After outside play, check every crevice. Start with the scalp, hair, behind ears and neck, behind knees, in private areas, plus clothing, shoes, gear, and even pets. Ticks love hidden, warm areas and can hitch a ride into your home.

2ļøāƒ£ Keep your yard tick-safe: mow lawns, clear leaf litter, and create barriers. This reduces the places ticks can live and limits exposure during outdoor play.

3ļøāƒ£ Support your child’s immune system with nutrition, hydration, and sleep. A strong immune system helps your child respond if a tick bite occurs. The more carbs and sugar we eat the more carbon dioxide we release, a trigger for ticks to seek their next meal. Reducing sugar and carb intake can make us less attractive to ticks.

Being proactive makes all the difference in the world! Follow for more tips to protect your child’s health. 🌱

Easter always feels a little more personal to me each year. It’s not just a story about something that happened once—it’s a reminder I find myself needing again and again.
I think about what C.S. Lewis wrote in Mere Christianity—about a God who didn’t stay distant from our mess, but stepped right into it. A God who understands what it is to suffer, to feel loss, and still somehow brings life out of what looks completely finished.
And honestly, that’s the part that stays with me. Because there are moments in life that feel like endings—like hope has run out quietly in the background. Easter gently pushes back against that feeling. It whispers that maybe the story isn’t over yet. That maybe something new is already beginning, even if I can’t see it.
So wherever you are right now—whether things feel full and joyful, or heavy and uncertain—I hope Easter meets you there in a real way. Not loud or overwhelming, just steady and reassuring.
A reminder that hope can come back. That grace is still at work. That even after the hardest nights, light has a way of finding us again.
Happy Easter šŸ’•

Root-cause healing is not a quick fix. It’s a process of listening, uncovering, and restoring.

For many families, I’m not the first stop… I’m the last. They’ve seen multiple specialists and still don’t have answers.

🌱What I do differently is simple: I listen first. To the parents. To their intuition. To the full story that’s often overlooked.

From there, we use my R.E.S.E.T. framework to walk through each system in the body and uncover what triggered the dysfunction. Because when you address the root, we can begin real healing.

🧩This work takes time, and partnership. But above all trust! Families who have been told ā€œeverything looks normalā€ while their child is suffering continue to struggle with this one. Parent trust can be the biggest treatment challenge to overcome! I’m here not only to heal your child but walk beside parents to help guide and provide clarity.

Trust your instincts. Keep advocating. There is always a deeper story.

šŸ’§Molecular hydrogen can be a game-changer for kids with complex chronic illnesses like PANS/PANDAS, Lyme and other tickborne diseases.

No two children are alike, and their healing journeys are unique. I often incorporate molecular hydrogen into my pediatric protocols because it helps reduce inflammation, detox without disturbing methylation pathways like MTHFR, protect the nervous system, and support cellular healing at a root-cause level. It’s safe, kid-friendly, and comes as tablets you dissolve in water or bath bombs—ideal for kids with detox or methylation challenges.
