Working towards recovery from addiction can be especially difficult during the holidays - particularly for women with young children. But at our Young Mothers Program (YMP) in Manhattan, women can work toward a place of health and healing with their young children by their side.
Children from newborns to age 4 can live at the program with their moms, ensuring the bond between mother and child is preserved and strengthened during the treatment process.
Recently, the nonprofit Giving Friends visited YMP with gifts in hand to host a holiday party for the families. The celebration included a visit from Santa Claus, as well as Giving Friends Founder and YMP graduate Lynne Corry. Lynne is a powerful role model for the mothers - and living proof that recovery is possible.
The beloved annual event was made even more special for two clients - one who was recently reunited with her 3-year-old and 6-month-old children, and another who spent the afternoon celebrating with her visiting 11-year-old son.
Thank you to Giving Friends, their volunteers, and donors for your compassion and generosity to these healing families. It would not be the holidays at YMP without you!
