Hello! It has been quite awhile since I’ve posted on here! Since moving to New York I shifted back to teaching ENL at a local school and being home with my son, Jude. I tried at the beginning of the move to find my place among the birth workers scene but felt like it was not the right time to pursue it. However, I keep returning to the idea of supporting new mothers and love the idea of pivoting towards the education side of birth work (which is what I’ve always loved!)

I thought that I would share my goals and dreams with you all to help start moving back into this space. When I think about this little birth business of mine, my main hope is to speak peace and joy and confidence into your abilities as a birthing person, a new mother, and a supporting partner. I love educating and want to finally come back to fostering strength and do what I first set out to create here.

Give me some patience as I am, of course, welcoming a new baby girl into our family this November ha! But I can’t shake this feeling that I want to come back to this space so I’ve decided it’s time to come back. Here’s to new beginnings and figuring out what this will look like moving forward! Thanks for being here.

New year, new availability, & new excitement to care for new mothers! I’ll be getting out some content here soon & posting some new postpartum prep guides for you all to enjoy. 2023 I feel is going to be good—I’m claiming it & who wouldn’t when their job is literally getting to take care of other mommas, being home with my baby, & getting to share information about all the things I love?? What a dream ✨

If you’re wanting support for later in the year just reach out & I’ll let you know when I’m free 🙂

• Stages of Labor & Doula Support •

We love to use education & clear information to pave the way for peace in your birthing experience. When you have what’s to be expected in mind, you can go with the flow of your body as you notice different parts of the process unfold.

We also wanted to add what consistent doula support could look like during that time! Doulas not only support you physically, they also encourage you emotionally & do the same for your birthing partner. Having someone there solely focused on you, offering encouragement, counter pressure during contractions, massage, breathing with you—what a gift that would be!

What support would you have liked to have during labor? What helped you feel ready for birth?

Things don’t just have to happen to you, there are options, there are providers who fit your vision, there are professionals ready to support you, there are places that will give you the best outcome you’re planning for—just find your people!

First postpartum meal basket all ready to go 🥹

I love the idea of bringing nourishing foods for my postpartum clients. Just a simple act of being cared for &creating space for them to breathe by having a few quick meals or snacks available I feel like would go a long way—especially on those longer days.

This momma is getting chicken, tomato, beans & rice, stewed apples, mini peanut butter balls & some peach cobbler! Postpartum doula care will always include nourishing foods accompanied by helping hands to take care of a few household chores, sibling care, newborn education, postpartum healing resources & referrals to professionals in the area ready to support them too.

Quick nourishing snack idea for new mommas & an added breastfeeding supply boost recipe for you!

Mix this all together and form into small balls. I like to throw them in the freezer or fridge so they stay together a bit better & I have them for a quick snack later!

• birth partner support •

There are so many ways that your birth partner can be there for & with you during the labor. Something that we like to encourage is having your partner be involved before birth & prepare for labor alongside you. This is a great way for you to be on the same page & ready to birth your baby!

Here are just a few things your birthing partner can do that can really make a difference:
~ speak positive affirmations over you while you are laboring
~ prepare for birth with you (watch birth videos, practice comfort measures, create the birth vision together, do the birth education class together etc)
~ offer comfort measures during labor (counter pressure, light tough or massage)
~ rest & nourish themselves so they can take care of you!
~ follow your lead with how you want the vibe to be. Help setup & maintain that environment (dim lights, no extra family members, light music etc)
~ over the entire pregnancy & labor & delivery just be present & involved!

If you work with a labor doula, most of the time they will instruct the birthing partner on different comfort measures & make sure you’re eating & resting just the same as the birthing person. There’s always time to add a labor doula to your birth team ;)
