Oral GLP-1s are gaining attention, but real-world use is more complicated than the headlines suggest.

In a recent Medscape article, Robin Berzin MD, shares perspective on a key challenge: adherence in the context of polypharmacy.

Oral GLP-1 medications often come with strict dosing requirements — timing, fasting windows, and potential interactions with other medications.

In practice, many patients are managing multiple prescriptions, busy schedules, and competing priorities.

The result? Inconsistent absorption. Variable outcomes.

Dr. Berzin emphasizes that effectiveness isn’t just about the medication itself — it’s about how it’s taken in real life.

That means:

• Clear patient education

• Practical, individualized counseling

• Aligning treatment plans with daily routines

Because even the most promising therapies depend on what happens outside the prescription pad.

As more oral options enter the market, the opportunity — and responsibility — is to design care that works in the context of real lives.

Oral weight-loss drugs bring great promise but require care in how they behave with other medications.

Pressure cooking doesn't just save time, it can also change how your body absorbs nutrients.

Parsley Health's Kelly Candela was recently featured in Everyday Health sharing perspective on the nutritional benefits of pressure cooking.

While often thought of as a convenience tool, pressure cooking can:

• Improve mineral bioavailability

• Enhance protein digestibility

• Reduce compounds like phytates and lectins, making foods like beans easier on the gut

It’s a good reminder that how we prepare food matters in addition to what we eat.

Magnesium is one of the most common nutrient gaps we see — and not all forms work the same way.

In a recent Vogue article, Amanda Perrin, MS, RD shared insight on magnesium citrate, which is a highly absorbable form often used to support digestion, migraines, and bone health.

By combining magnesium with citric acid, this form becomes more bioavailable, meaning the body can absorb and use it more efficiently.

However, the right form, dose, and use depend on your individual needs, not just the headline benefit.

For a deeper dive into when and how magnesium citrate may be helpful, read the full article here:

Kelly Candela was recently featured in the New York Post breaking down the difference between two of the most talked-about supplements right now — and what they actually do.

Her take is that these products aren’t interchangeable

Collagen

• Broken down into peptides that stimulate collagen production

• Supports skin, joints, connective tissue

Colostrum

• Contains immunoglobulins + lactoferrin

• Supports gut barrier integrity + immune signaling

• Many compounds resist digestion and act locally in the gut

Can you take both? Potentially, but goals, dosing, and quality matter.

Two trending wellness supplements. One guide to help you decide.

According to CDC data, births to women age 40+ now slightly exceed births to teenagers for the first time in U.S. history.

This shift isn’t random: it’s tied to reproductive autonomy, contraception, technology, and intentional life planning.

From a health perspective, it highlights the value of proactive, whole-body care long before major life stages — from reproductive goals to metabolic and hormonal resilience.

Used well, tools like ChatGPT can improve health literacy and help patients show up to appointments more informed and engaged.

But information alone is not healthcare.

Clinical care requires context, pattern recognition over time, and individualized risk assessment—things AI can support, but not replace.

The 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines mark real progress in how nutrition is understood and communicated.

For decades, public guidance lagged behind what clinicians were seeing every day. Rates of obesity and type 2 diabetes climbed, while nutrition advice stayed overly simplistic and disconnected from metabolism, gut health, and long-term disease risk.

The updated guidelines move the conversation forward. They make the message to "eat real food" clear by calling out ultra-processed foods, acknowledging higher protein needs, and better illustrating how diet shapes health over time. That alignment matters.

At the same time, broad guidelines can’t capture the full picture. Protein quality, fiber intake, food sourcing, and context still shape outcomes in meaningful ways. Nutrition works best when recommendations are paired with personalization and clinical insight.

Overall, this is a step in the right direction—and a reminder that better guidance is most powerful when it’s applied thoughtfully to real people.

Biomarker Spotlight: hs-CRP (High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein)

We measure hs-CRP levels to catch chronic low-grade inflammation early—often before symptoms appear—because “inflammaging” accelerates cellular damage and increases disease risk.

Elevated hs-CRP is linked to faster cognitive decline, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic dysfunction.

Optimal range: < 1.0 mg/L for longevity and metabolic health

How to improve it: Anti-inflammatory diet rich in omega-3s, regular movement, quality sleep, stress management, provider-supervised medical interventions, and targeted supplementation
