When children are exposed to gambling early, they are far more likely to develop a problem later in life. Survey data shows that 71% of Americans with children under the age of 18 are concerned about underage gambling exposure.

Parents, educators, coaches, and caregivers all play a role in prevention. Healthier futures often start with honest questions: Do you know what gambling is? Do you know it has risks?

On March 6th, NYC PGRC team members Queens Team Leader Robin Singh, and Program Manager Peer Tre Paul, joined Senator Joseph Addabbo and recovery coach Scott Meyer at John Adams Highschool in Queens, New York. Senator Addabbo is quoted saying "Teaching kids about the risks of gambling addiction is more than a responsibility —it helps their future, if we raise awareness and understanding, we help them make smart choices and protect themselves from addiction that can ruin their dreams.”

When young people are exposed to gambling early, the impact can extend far beyond adolescence. Raising awareness about the risks of gambling-related harm today helps build healthier futures tomorrow.
