Imposter syndrome doesn’t care what you’ve already accomplished — it shows up fresh every time you begin something new. In this solo episode of Sexy in Your 60s, Dvora Citron shares the story of twenty-five years as a school nurse, a fentanyl overdose she responded to on day five of fasting, and what all of it taught her about the real price of beginning.

Dvora Citron is a Registered Nurse, National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, and Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner. After twenty-five years as a school nurse, she now helps women 50 and older create the health, confidence, and vitality they want — through science, story, support, and soul.

The Price of Beginning

It was a Friday that looked like every other Friday.
I was on day five of a fasting-mimicking diet, a little hungry, nothing unusual on the books. Then two students rushed into my school nurse office: a girl in the bathroom, not breathing. I grabbed the Narcan, got on the walkie-talkie, and I moved.
The hunger? I didn’t even notice. That was the job. But when I first became a school nurse, I was terrified.
I had spent years in the hospital, always part of a team.
Suddenly I was the only healthcare provider in the building.
I had imposter syndrome before that phrase was even a thing.
I spent a long time waiting to feel ready. What I know now, after twenty-five years as a school nurse and a full reinvention into health coaching, podcasting, and course creation: you don’t get ready and then begin.
You begin, and that’s how you get ready. This week’s episode is part of a solo series I’m calling A Bridge — four episodes leading up to something I’ve been building for a long time.
If you’re standing at the edge of something new right now, this one is for you.

Six things that stayed with me from this week’s episode.

Swipe through.

Episode 21 is live now with Annette Naif, founder of Naif Productions, NYU instructor, and someone who built a multi-million dollar event business at 47 after decades of experience she did not realize she was stacking.

We talked about what a nonlinear path actually teaches you, why confidence is something you practice rather than possess, and what happens when you trust your body even when no one else is listening.

She quit Wall Street at 29 to follow her passion. Here's what she built.

Debbie Adler spent her twenties as a CPA feeling "dead inside." Then she walked away, moved to LA, pursued acting, invented a sugar-free cupcake in her apartment, opened a bakery, rebuilt it for her son's food allergies, wrote two cookbooks, and launched a granola line with adaptogens in every bag.

Reinvention is not a one-time event. For Debbie, it has been a way of living.

In this episode of Sexy in Your 60s, she also gets practical: how to start eating whole food plant-based after 50 without overwhelm, what to look for on a nutrition label, why muscle building matters more than most people realize, and what sexy means to her now.

Her answer to that last question: "Sexy is confidence. If I see a woman who is confident, no matter her age, that is sexy."

I’m listening to a podcast episode on intentional fashion, and it’s reminding me that so many of our daily choices are about more than appearance.

What we wear can reflect how we want to feel, how we want to move through the day, and who we are becoming.

That is also true of how we nourish ourselves, care for our bodies, advocate for our health, and approach aging.

There is no shortage of information. What is often missing is the support to turn insight into meaningful, aligned change.

That is why I created Sexy in Your 60s: a coaching experience for women 50+ and beyond who want to take a more intentional role in how they age and become the CEO of their own healthy aging journey.
Information can inform you, but coaching helps transform you.
Because the goal isn’t just to know more. It’s to live with more intention.

From attorney to matchmaker, and she has never looked back.

Leora Hoffman made her first introduction during maternity leave.

Two strangers, wildly different backgrounds.

Her instincts said they would click.

They sat on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and kissed until one in the morning.

The next day her phone rang:

“Forget law. You have found your calling.”

That was 1989.

Thirty-seven years and countless love stories later, she is still doing exactly this.

My conversation with Leora is Episode 19 of Sexy in Your 60s
