DONOR LINK BELOW—KEEP READING 💚
Our incredible sister, Dr. Amy McGorry, urgently needs a liver donor with blood type O+ in New York. Only a portion of the liver is needed, and it typically regenerates fully. Time is critical. Please read and share to help us find a donor.
For the majority of her life, Amy has lived with autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis, two chronic diseases that cause permanent damage to the liver. There is no cure for either disease. Amy has fought with dignity and grace, but her liver has given everything it can and she is now in dire need of a donor. Every day matters.
Amy is a beloved aunt, sister, daughter, friend, and proud dog mom who loves improv, karaoke, and Duke Blue Devils men's basketball. She’s also a news anchor, a physical therapist with her doctorate, and a collegiate teacher.
To help her keep the "live" in her "liver," (as Amy says!), just a portion of a living donor's liver would be donated to Amy. The liver is unique in that, over time, it typically fully regenerates within 8-12 weeks. To consider being a donor, visit the link below, and Weill Cornell's transplant team will support the donor every step of the way. Living donors can be male or female, and do not need to be blood relatives. Any healthy person between 20 and 60, with blood type O+, may be considered!
Even if you’re not eligible to be a living donor, please share Amy’s story and support her. Every share, comment, like, and conversation gets us one step closer to giving her the gift of life.
See if you are a compatible donor here–use "Amy McGorry" as the "Recipient" name in the questionnaire with the birthdate 10/17/1969: http://nyp.org/livingdonorliver
Our cheerleader for others now needs our cheering! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and livers.
With all our love,
Amy’s family
