Before chronic illness, she measured her days in hours. What could be done in the morning. What could be finished by evening. How much she could accomplish before bedtime.
Now she measures time in energy.
How much does she have when she wakes up
How much will this task require
How much must she save for later
Living this way is exhausting. It requires constant awareness. It demands that she think ahead in ways others never have to.
Some days she feels frustrated that her life revolves around limits. But other days, she feels proud of how well she manages something so complex.
She has become thoughtful with her choices. Intentional with her commitments. Protective of her peace.
Her pace may be different, but her life is still full of meaning. She is still contributing. Still loving. Still growing.
Chronic illness changed her rhythm, but it did not silence her strength.
