In her experience, people from all walks of life benefit in their own unique way—but a common thread is this: feeling lighter, gaining clarity, and accessing thoughts they didn’t even realize were there.

What is EMDR therapy and how does it help trauma? Darcy Montana, MHC-LP, explains how EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps the brain reprocess traumatic experiences.

Instead of reliving the emotional intensity of a memory, EMDR supports the brain in storing it as something that happened in the past—so your body no longer reacts as if it’s still occurring. Over time, this can reduce triggers, soften emotional responses, and create a greater sense of safety and control.

Chronic pain isn’t just physical—it’s deeply connected to your thoughts, emotions, and nervous system.

Heather Hamilton, LMHC, explains how pain can exist in a loop, where physical sensations, emotional responses, and cognitive patterns all influence one another. When you begin to understand this cycle, you can start to shift your relationship to pain and feel a greater sense of agency.

If you’re navigating chronic pain, Heather also leads The Strength Within, a therapy group designed to support both the emotional and physical experience of pain in a compassionate, structured space.
