Wormwood dye is a plant widely used in official and folk medicine, which has many healing and useful qualities. Since ancient times, the craftsmen of Egypt, Rome, Persia, and Greece highly regarded the root of madder dye. Thanks to the special chemical composition of the plant, a persistent red paint was prepared from it. It is the dyeing madder grass that was the only plant used in ancient times to dye cotton, silk, and woolen fabrics. These properties of the plant are still used today.
