The temps are dropping 🥶, the holidays 🕎 are upon us and so is the season of sick, sick, sick kiddos 🫠Let’s hope we can all get back to healthy ASAP! Here’s what we saw in the office this week:
Flu A!!! ✅
Strep! ✅
Flu A and Strep together! ✅✅
RSV ✅
High fevers ✅
Stomach bug ✅
No way to sugar coat it, the uptown office has been swamped with sick visits. What can you do?
💡Practice proper hand washing 💦🧼🫧 technique with your kids—egg timers, sand timers, iPhone, sing a song you name it. 20 seconds is a good rule of thumb
💡Encourage kids to cover their mouth 👄 with their elbow 💪🏼 (not their hands🙅🏼♀️! when they feel the need to sneeze or cough.
💡Frequent elevator button pusher? Using taxis 🚕, Ubers, buses 🚌 or the subway 🚇 more often? All good and to be expected in the city—but if your kiddos are holding all the hand rails, door handles, etc —try to sanitize or hand wash when you get to your school, home, destination.
💡Masks: if one person is sick in your house try to contain it by bringing back the masks 😷 while the person(s) is/are contagious. The more we can stop the spread in the community, the faster this wave of Flu A (as just one example) is over.
💡Wash bedding 🛏️ 🧺 and disinfect high touch points 🎚️🎛️
💡Flu shots, RSV shots: are you and the whole family who are eligible up to date? Remember, even though Flu A is super prominent now there are still other strains of flu and it’s early in the season! You can get more than one strain of flu so get your shots friends 💉
💡Need a sick 🤒 visit next week? Utilize our ✌🏼📍second office if you’re able to ease the wait times for your family.
ℹ️ Expecting a baby 👶🏽 Prenatals are still being offered every Tuesday evening AND —Dr. Falcon is hosting an infant CPR & choking prevention ⛑️ class at the Columbus Circle office next Thursday, 12/18. Sign up in our links, website, etc.
Stay healthy NYC!
