Brrrrr chill! 🥶🌬️Happy blustery Friday MVP families! Get ready folks, this could the snow ❄️ ☃️🛷 we’ve all been waiting for (or not, depending on who you ask ;-) So, while you have time to read 📲📚 this weekend, let’s get to some important info about what’s going around AND what’s coming up for events at the office.

For illnesses 😷 here are this week’s top three contenders:

Flu A
Flu B
RSV

ℹ️ While Flu A may seem like old news, the fact we’re still seeing it means you should still be paying attention to close contact with others, hand washing, masking/containment within your house when possible, keeping sick kids home. Flu A tends to be a little more severe symptom-wise with higher fevers and body aches. BOTH flu A and B can serious and severe so please let us know if you think you’re child is ill and you need our support.

ℹ️ RSV: the quick info is can seem like a common virus that causes mild, cold-like symptoms BUT can’t lead to severe infections in infants. Treatment is usually fluids and fever reducers. Pregnant people can receive the maternal RSV vaccine at 32 and 36 weeks if their baby will be born during RSV season (generally given Sept-Jan.) You can read more about the RSV vaccine for babies on our blog: search RSV.

ℹ️ Coming up: two free events for families and caregivers! Come check out our NEW office at 30 W 60th Street, Suite 1S for one or both!

💕 Sat, 2/08; 10 AM to 1 PM 💕
Community Open House
💓 Spread the Love! 💓
We’re opening the doors to share our new office with the UWS! There will be FREE kids portraits 📸 by and coffee ☕️ (you’re welcome parents!) from local

💘 NEW Patients: Register at our event to receive an MVP tote with our providers’ favorite things! 🛍️

💝 ESTABLISHED Patients: Bring along a new family or friend to the event and snag some free MVP merch! 🫢

ℹ️ Thurs, 2/12 @ 7:30 PM at the Columbus Circle office — a FREE@
Newborn Care Class w/ Dr. Isabelle Falcon of MVP and Ayelet Kaznelson, BCLC who will speak to lactation questions and hosts our weekly group support classes. Registration is available on our website/links!

Stay warm! 🩷🧡💛💙

Happy (Freezing 🥶) Friday MVP families! Let’s get straight to the top causes for sick 🤒 visits this week starting with:

🫩 Flu A. Yep, unfortunately, the flu is still holding on and we’ve got a ways to go. If for any reason your child (or your family in general) hasn’t received the flu vaccine this season, please don’t hesitate to give us a call to get one. It is not too late. The more the community is vaccinated and practices basic hygiene precautions the faster we can get through this rough patch and look forward to spring 🌷

🤢 Stomach Viruses. The one no one wants EVER 🚫 common symptoms of the Norovirus may include:

• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Stomach cramping
• Urinating less or having dark-colored p*e
• Dry mouth
• Feeling weak
• Dizziness

👅 Next up on the list….all too familiar strep throat. Remember, things like dairy 🥛 can feel cooling on an irritated throat.

🦭 Last but not least, croup. The barky cough often afflicts babies ages 6 months to children3 years old —mainly just because their airways are smaller. Barky cough, fever, hoarse voice, noisy or labored breathing are typical but if your child isn’t getting better on their own (3-5 days) please give us a call.

📲 Reminders: On Saturdays the Upper Manhattan office is open for sick visits from 9am to noon.

🗓️ Monday, 1/19: both offices will be open for regular business.

🍽️ Wednesday, 1/21: Dr. Falcon hosts a Zoom workshop on Starting Solids. Registration is available here in our profile, in our stories and on our website.

A friendly reminder in the never ending news cycle—NP Jamie Wells was kind enough to write a full blog for our website last week to cover the recent vaccine news. In addition to her blog, you can also review MVP’s vaccine policy on our website in a few places. As always, we are committed to practicing evidence-based medicine. Please consult your provider if you have specific questions and know that social media is not a replacement for science and a reliable, licensed, and board certified medical physician.
