Dear Friends of Lineage Project,

This spring, Lineage’s board of directors made the painstaking decision to wind down our programming on August 30 and close the organization’s doors this fall. This is a sad and complex transition for our team, past and present, who breathed life into Lineage’s programs for the last 25+ years.

Sometimes a whole day goes by and we realize we haven't taken a single moment to check in with ourselves. What does it feel like to slow down and take a pause in the midst of a fast-paced and stressful world?

Join us Feb 28th for a 75-minute virtual workshop on mindfulness + somatic practices designed to help us slow down, rest our bodies and minds, and reflect.

Begin 2024 on a bright note with this affirmation written by a Lineage student in Together, We Grow—a social-emotional learning + wellness program at an all-girls high school in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

As we wrap up this year, we’re feeling grateful to you—our community—for all the ways you make Lineage’s work possible.

If you’re able and willing to financially support our work, please consider doing so by visiting: https://bkgives.brooklyn.org/organizations/lineage-project. We rely on donations to get our programs where they’re most needed.

With wishes for a warm, peaceful, and connected new year,

Lineage supports the adults who work in NYC systems to make evermore skillful, empathic, and intentional decisions in their work with young people.

Recent citywide budget cuts make it harder than ever for systems to adequately support young people + the staff who work with them.

Lineage offers programs on a sliding scale—and we rely on donors to fill the gap between what systems can pay and the true cost of our work.

Every single donation makes a difference, no matter how big or small. Support us at https://bkgives.brooklyn.org/organizations/lineage-project.

In classes with young people and adults, we explore how resilience is both internal and external, individual and collective. We practice ways to honor our inner strengths and build resilience by making space for joy, gratitude, rest, and “soaking in the good” when we can.

A 16-year-old student created this “Tree of Strength” to illustrate some of the qualities that make up her resilience. What would your tree look like?

Our donors ensure our programs reach as many young people as possible. Every single donation makes a difference, no matter how big or small. Support us at https://bkgives.brooklyn.org/organizations/lineage-project.

Here are some fast + impactful ways you can make a difference:

▪️ Share a Lineage Facebook or Instagram post on your social media—ideally with a few words re: why you’re sharing.

▪️ Most Needed: Join our Peer-to-Peer fundraising team + help us raise donations this December. We have a user-friendly toolkit that makes the process quick and easy. This small investment of time + energy = a big impact for young people.

▪️ Send a quick email to a friend/family member with a link to our website, and a sentence or two about why you think our work is important.

Please reach out to Casey at casey@lineageproject.org to get set up as a Peer-to-Peer fundraiser, or if you have any questions.

This wisdom comes directly from high school girls in Together, We Grow—a social-emotional learning (SEL) + wellness program at Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy, an all-girls high school in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

We could not do any of this without you. Please consider making a donation at https://bkgives.brooklyn.org/organizations/lineage-project.

Thank you.

What better way to end a year of incredible programming than with a piece of poetry written by a young person as part of her independent project for “Finding Ourselves, Finding Us”— Lineage’s most recent Community Program.

As we wrap up this year, we are grateful to you—our community—for all the ways you make our work possible.

As a small organization with no staff fully dedicated to fundraising, your financial support makes a big difference.

If you’re able and willing to make an end-of-year donation, we’d be grateful: You can do so by clicking here: https://www.brooklyngives.org/donate?campaign_id=151799

We’re excited to announce that every person who makes a donation during our end-of-year fundraising campaign (between November 29 and December 31, 2022) will be entered in our Winter Raffle! We’ll be gifting two beautiful, full-size candles from our friends at the Brooklyn-based The New Savant and six spots in Lineage’s 2023 “Mindfulness Fundamentals” workshops.

With wishes for a warm, peaceful, and connected new year,

Student leaders created this vision board for Lineage’s school-wide program at Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy Charter School, an all-girls high school located in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn.

These student leaders will work alongside a Lineage teacher to support their peers and will eventually lead mindfulness practices themselves.

This partnership is designed to enhance BELA’s already steadfast commitment to school-wide social-emotional learning, helping their community cultivate collective wellbeing, inner power, joy, insight, and interconnection through culturally-responsive mindfulness practice.

We often talk about being a “small but mighty” organization. Since Lineage doesn't have a staff member dedicated solely to fundraising, every single donation we receive from you—our community—makes a huge difference. If you’re able and willing to make a donation to fund our trauma-sensitive mindfulness work throughout NYC systems, we’d be grateful: You can do so by clicking here: https://www.brooklyngives.org/donate?campaign_id=151799
