Congrats to all the runners who raced the Marathon, Half Marathon or 8k in Philadelphia this weekend 🛎️ Philly remains a popular destination race for New Yorkers, with typically good weather, multiple distances to choose from, and an easy weekend getaway from NYC.

November is Running Safety Month. This is the perfect time to ensure that your running routine prioritizes staying visible, aware of your surroundings, and feeling comfortable with your routes and gear — especially when living in a big city like NYC and when daylight hours are limited.

Essential tips include:
•Stay in populated and lighted areas
•Run with others
•When running in a group, stay 2 across and give way to pedestrians
•Be flexible with your plans
•Don’t wear headphones or earbuds
•Carry ID & a Metrocard or cab fare
•Don’t respond to verbal harassment
•Wear light clothing with reflective details and/or lights

Congrats, Marathoners!

We say it every year, but Marathon Day truly is the best day to be a New Yorker, a runner, a fan of the sport. The tour of the five boroughs takes us through the best of our city and shows us the best of humanity. To all of you who ran, whether you overcame an injury, completed your first 26.2, set a personal best, hit a fundraising goal for a charity, or just kept pushing through when it got hard (because it always gets hard), we congratulate you. To those of you who cheered, it takes a village and the spectators are what make New York so unique when it comes to marathons.
