Over 200 q***r artists have signed a letter calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and pledging not to perform in Israel until Palestinians are free. They’re challenging Israel’s whitewashing, or “pinkwashing” of its brutal military occupation, a PR tactic that exploits LGBTQ+ voices to justify and cover up Israel’s racist violence against Palestinians.

Signatories on the letter include Phoebe Bridgers, Kehlani, Hari Nef, Joel Kim Booster, Indya Moore, Jamila Woods, MUNA, Lucy Dacus, and Patti Harrison.

Repost from

Hardly any safe refuge can be found in Gaza amid Israel’s unrelenting airstrikes of the territory in retaliation to Hamas’ terrorist attack on Oct. 7.

But for LGBT Gazans, the specter of death from the Israel-Hamas war only compounds what was already a struggle to live freely in a place where homosexual relations between men is outlawed and open q***rness violates social and religious mores.

Amid the dual threats of escalating violence and ongoing repression, a six-year-old interactive site called Q***ring the Map has emerged to provide the world a rare glimpse of the perspective of members of Gaza’s LGBT community.

The platform, founded in 2017 by Lucas LaRochelle, allows LGBT-identifying users to make anonymous geotagged posts.

🌍 Celebrating International Pronouns Day! 🎉

Today, we proudly join the global movement to recognize and acknowledge the significance of pronouns in affirming everyone's identities. Respecting each other's pronouns is not only an act of basic human decency, but it also plays a crucial role in fostering a more inclusive and accepting world.

Language has immense power, shaping our identities, connections, and experiences. By embracing and normalizing the practice of using correct pronouns, we contribute to dismantling harmful gender stereotypes, cisnormativity, and transphobia. Through proactively asking, listening, and using the correct pronouns, we create safe spaces where everyone can feel seen, heard, and respected. 🤗📣

Q***r folk are being in the US. 2023’s seen a record of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation & major companies caving to the demands of anti-LGBTQ voices, ex: &

“When these companies faced anti-LGBTQ+ hostility, they backed down w/ little resistance. This reveals why people have been wary of corporatization of Pride: if corp. advocacy consists merely of 🌈s that disappear at the 1st gust of fascist wind, that support was never truly there.

The retreat of corps from supporting the , does more than fail to assist the community they professed to support. It actively damages the community by feeding a narrative that individuals aren’t worth protecting.

The campaign against is a calculated move by the far-right. “Pick a victim, gang up on it, & make an example of it. We can't boycott every woke company or even most of them. But we can pick 1 & target it w/ a ruthless boycott campaign. Claim 1 scalp then move onto the next.” - Matt Walsh

The speed which companies are caving to anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment shows the danger in entrusting Pride events to corps, who have no skin in the game. Pride’s rooted in a response to anti-LGBTQ+ oppression in 1969 & raid. Then & now, anti-drag laws proliferate & LGBTQ+ people are targeted by the state & bigotry. The 1st & early celebrations weren’t about corp. advocacy or organizational support for ***r people, but about fostering our own communities & networks to ensure that oppression would never prevail.” -

“Removing items from its Collection, or hiding them in the back - is tantamount to insisting we all go back in the closet. LGBTQ+ rights & people are under attack, extremist political forces want to exterminate us, pushing our diverse history, experiences & ways of being into the shadows - we need everyone to speak out for us - incl. major corporations.
You can’t only support where you are ‘safe’ from confrontation” -

Pride is not a celebration for the cis-straights. ⁣

If you have historically benefited from and are invested in homophobic and transphobic beliefs that seek to delegitimize and invisibilize LGBTQIA+ Folks, Pride is not your month.⁣

If you have historically benefited from and are invested in homophobic and transphobic systems that marginalize and terrorize LGBTQIA+ Folks, Pride is not your month.⁣

This is an opportunity for us to be in quiet meditation and reflection, deep in Q***r History education growing in LGBTQIA+ Liberation activism, and to learn how to sit down, take up less space, and be happy for someone else for once without needing to be seen or centered.⁣

Are you cis-straight and feeling a little convicted?⁣

Perfect!⁣

There is the proof that Pride is not your celebration.⁣

What should we, as cis-straight folks, do instead of "celebrate" Pride?⁣

ONE:⁣
Apply all the pressure you can to get these anti-trans bills the f*ck outta here.⁣

TWO:⁣
Confront your lil' friends when they use anti-gay and trans-antagonistic language.⁣

THREE:⁣
Volunteer with q***r-led organizations that are doing work to create LGBTQIA+ equality.⁣

FOUR:⁣
Make sizable donations to q***r-led organizations. ⁣

FIVE:⁣
Ask LGBTQIA folks what they need, listen, and be prepared to deliver without compensation or validation.⁣

SIX:⁣
Protect our LGBTQIA siblings at all cost.⁣

What are some other things you can think of that you should be doing as a cis-straight instead of getting drunk and waving a rainbow flag?

Anti-drag and anti-LGBTQIA+ Republican lawmakers reimagined as drag queens? This is exactly the type of AI-generated art we're here for.

Parody Instagram account posts AI-generated portraits of high profile GOP figures, such as former VP Mike Pence, Gov. Ron DeSantis, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and more. In an interview with NBC News, Rupublicans creators Craig and Stephen [both of whom did not provide their last names to protect their personal security] said they hope the account will help destigmatize drag queens and serve as a platform for activism.

'You know, there’s a lot of dark times that we’re living through right now, and we just want to spread brightness and laughter and levity, but also be really smart and poignant with it,' said Stephen.

Once again, it’s been an extremely rough week full of anti-trans legislation. 14 states have passed or will likely soon pass gender-affirming care bans with veto-proof majorities. The list, as of this week, includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.

In addition, at least 8 new anti-trans bills were introduced this week, four of which were in North Carolina. Head to the link in bio for a full breakdown of bills that were passed, introduced, or progressed via .

Today is , and last night, a hate-fueled mass shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado stole at least five lives from our community. Our hearts break for our siblings in Colorado Springs. Without a doubt, there is a direct link between this attack and the right's growing fixation on the demonization of trans and q***r identities.

Trans Day of Remembrance, and other observances like these, are not just woke performativity or mere formalities. Days like today are reminders for us to assert our equal humanity, and to boldly show up, stand up, and speak out for the most vulnerable individuals in our community: our trans friends. Our boldness can mean the difference between life and death. Today, we remember those we've lost, and re-commit to fighting like hell for those we still have with us. Say their names.
