What are the chances of getting pregnant each month?

Even for a healthy couple, the odds aren’t as high as most people think. On average, there’s about a 20–25% chance of conceiving each cycle when timing and fertility are optimal.

💙 That means it can take a few months, and that’s completely normal.

Fertility isn’t just about one factor. Age, timing, overall health, and underlying conditions all play a role.

Dr. Josh Morris, MD of Extend Fertility’s NJ location sat down with Second Opinion Podcast to break down what infertility really means, how it’s diagnosed, and what you can do early on.

They cover:
• What counts as infertility
• First steps when trying to conceive
• Common causes
• Primary vs. secondary infertility
• The role of diet & exercise
• When to seek medical support
• Practical ways to support your fertility

Whether you’re just starting out or navigating challenges, this episode offers clear, expert-backed guidance to help you move forward with confidence.

During , it’s important to remember: “unexplained” doesn’t mean “untreatable," and you deserve a thoughtful, thorough approach to your care. 🧡

Unexplained infertility can be one of the most frustrating diagnoses to receive because it doesn’t always mean there’s no cause. It often means there’s something we haven’t fully identified yet.

While we may not always get a clear answer, care shouldn’t stop there. The goal should be to keep asking questions, using your history and testing to form a working hypothesis that helps guide treatment and next steps.

For many, fertility treatment becomes part of the journey. But alongside that, optimizing lifestyle factors and building a deeper understanding of what might be happening can make a meaningful difference.

Swipe to read some possible underlying factors to consider if you've been diagnosed with unexplained infertility.

Extend Fertility and Ali Prato from and are happy to spread awareness on infertility, IVF, and fertility health this 🧡

Here are THREE things that you shouldn’t say to people going through IVF and what you could say instead.

1️⃣“Congratulations! Aren’t you so excited!”
Why it’s not okay: IVF isn’t a celebration—it’s something people turn to when things haven’t gone as planned. It’s filled with anxiety, pressure, and uncertainty.
What to say instead:
“I’m here for you—how are you feeling about everything?”

2️⃣“Just relax—it’ll happen.”
Why it’s not okay: IVF is medical, not mindset.
What to say instead: “I’m here for you—whatever you need.”

3️⃣“Everything Happens For Reason”
Why it’s not okay: Not everything has a reason—and this just hurts to hear.
What to say instead:
“This sucks. I’m here with you.”

Oftentimes people going through IVF are simply looking for support without offers for solutions, opinions, or the perfect thing to say.

Infertility affects millions, yet for many couples, the “why” remains unanswered. 🧬

This Week, new research shines a light on one of fertility’s biggest mysteries: the uterine lining. National health reporter .billups with shines a light on research that’s aimed at understanding a missing piece of the infertility puzzle.

Extend’s Chief Scientific Officer, Reproductive Endocrinologist and the Director of OBGYN Translational Research at Rutgers, Dr. Nataki Douglas and Dr. Anat Chemerinski, fellow Reproductive Endocrinologist at Rutgers have identified a unique “GERM signature” — a group of genes that switch on when the uterus is ready for pregnancy. Think of it as the body’s green light for implantation.

They’ve identified that this signal is missing or weaker in women experiencing infertility, pregnancy loss, or implantation failure.

While there’s still more to uncover, this breakthrough could lead to better diagnostics, and even new treatments, bringing hope to those still searching for answers. 🧡

This week is

1 in 6 people of reproductive age experience infertility globally, but statistics only tell part of the story and don’t fully capture the number of people who need support in building their families.

Behind every number is a real person navigating challenges that are often invisible to others.

It’s the person...
🧡 Trying to understand the financial realities of fertility care.
🧡 Balancing daily responsibilities while managing treatments behind the scenes.
🧡 It’s the friend showing up with love for others while quietly carrying their own heartbreak.

We see you. Whether you’re just beginning to seek answers, considering egg freezing, navigating fertility treatments, exploring adoption or surrogacy, or finding peace in a different path, your journey is valid.

🩺 You don’t have to go through it alone. At Extend Fertility, we’re here to provide education, care, and a supportive community where your experiences are understood and your goals are respected.

This week and every week, we stand with you.

Share this to help raise awareness and deepen understanding of what it means to be part of the 1 in 6.

And we’d love to hear from you, what perspectives or experiences would you add?👇

About Extend Fertility

Extend Fertility is the very first service in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to women choosing to proactively freeze their eggs.

We’ve been in the business of helping women freeze their eggs for over a decade. We began by connecting women around the country with local clinics who offered this service—but during that time, we recognized that women choosing an egg freezing clinic deserved a place of their own and a service they could afford. We’ve created exactly such a place.

We recognize that the physical and emotional needs of women interested in fertility options are vastly different from the needs of women struggling with infertility issues. This might seem obvious. But most practices serve both sets of women in the same office and focus mainly on the latter, who hope to get pregnant immediately through techniques like in vitro fertilization (IVF)—which is efficient for the practice, but not ideal for you if you’re not in that camp.

That’s what’s different about Extend Fertility: we believe that women interested in fertility options for the future deserve the same level of service, emotional support, and physician excellence as women trying for a baby now.
