We let the data speak for itself at Extend Fertility… and get this: the average age of women freezing their eggs dropped from 36.9 to 35.0 between 2016 and 2023! 🥚

This shift reflects what the data has said for years: AGE drives outcomes MORE than any other factor in fertility preservation.

Most clinics can’t tell you what happens when you return to use your frozen eggs. That data didn’t exist – until now!!

Swipe to read a few key insights from our 8-year Egg Freezing study results. This study is a a collaboration between Extend Fertility and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and was authored by a multi-disciplinary team including Joshua U. Klein, MD; Nataki C. Douglas, MD, PhD; Baruch Abittan, MD; and members of Extend’s clinical staff and lab team.

If you want to freeze your eggs or embryos, you DO NOT need to remove your IUD! 👏

IUDs—both hormonal and copper—can stay in place throughout the egg or embryo freezing process. This is in contrast to other types of birth control, such as the pill, which needs to be paused before you start an egg or embryo freezing cycle.

✨ IUDs are an exception to the rule because of how they work to prevent pregnancy. Unlike the pill, IUDs, don’t prevent ovulation, so they don’t interfere with the stimulation of egg production during an egg or embryo freezing cycle. And the egg retrieval is performed via a needle that goes through the wall of the va**na, so there’s no chance of the IUD getting in the way.

This is good news for a few reasons:

🥚Most people considering egg or embryo freezing are doing so because they’re not ready for kids right now, and IUDs are a highly effective form of birth control (over 99%).
🥚The IUD insertion process can be uncomfortable or painful, so many are relieved to learn they don’t need to remove and reinsert their IUDs before egg or embryo freezing.

Are you planning out when to start your egg freezing cycle? If so, it’s helpful to know how long your cycle will take… 🥚

📆 Egg freezing cycle lengths vary from patient to patient, but on average it takes about 10-14 days.
💉An egg freezing cycle begins with the first day of medication and ends with the egg retrieval.

Our healthcare team at will guide you through every step of your egg freezing cycle, from obtaining your medication through pharmacies that specialize in fertility hormones go training you on how and when to inject yourself.

About Extend Fertility

Extend Fertility is the very first service in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to women choosing to proactively freeze their eggs.

We’ve been in the business of helping women freeze their eggs for over a decade. We began by connecting women around the country with local clinics who offered this service—but during that time, we recognized that women choosing an egg freezing clinic deserved a place of their own and a service they could afford. We’ve created exactly such a place.

We recognize that the physical and emotional needs of women interested in fertility options are vastly different from the needs of women struggling with infertility issues. This might seem obvious. But most practices serve both sets of women in the same office and focus mainly on the latter, who hope to get pregnant immediately through techniques like in vitro fertilization (IVF)—which is efficient for the practice, but not ideal for you if you’re not in that camp.

That’s what’s different about Extend Fertility: we believe that women interested in fertility options for the future deserve the same level of service, emotional support, and physician excellence as women trying for a baby now.
