We are often making choices from the version of us that doesn’t have or believe we can have the thing. There will be days when the best thing for us is the last thing we want to do.
The part of us that doesn’t believe we can achieve the thing is often the one that tells us we don’t have to do the thing.
Commitment to better choices and habits is a huge part of what I teach in SHIFT and with my private clients. But just telling ourselves we have to do things doesn’t feel good or even work. It takes energy away and makes us feel exhausted, overwhelmed and defeated.
The reality is, there are many things we will have to do to get the thing we want that we don’t want to do. We will have to chose it often over something we want to do at the time. Maybe that’s to stay in bed, go out, watch tv, scroll etc…while these aren’t inherently bad things, they probably won’t take you closer to the life you want or how you want to feel.
We have to find a way that gives us energy when we have to do the thing. Something that feels good and expansive. A reason to pick it over the other choice.
That’s why focusing on our future self ( which is actually our present self too- but that’s a whole other discussion) is what gets us to take the steps towards our dreams.
When we take on the energy of having the thing we can feel it in our core and use that energy to take the steps we need to take and they feel good. We can experience the feeling of our dream life, before it’s completely present.
