Arnold Ventures Criminal Justice Innovation Fellowships

To secure more effective and equitable criminal justice practices, we need to innovate and evaluate new policy solutions that can be adopted by local, state, and federal policy makers.

The Arnold Ventures Criminal Justice Innovation Fellowships will support five post-doctoral fellows who are pursuing policy-relevant causal research designed to innovate and evaluate cost-effective and scalable policy solutions that advance the efficacy and equity of criminal justice practices.

Fellowships will begin in September 2024, and will be available for periods of up to three years. Fellows will be expected to conduct research relevant to criminal justice practices in the United States, and will be required to devote up to 25% of their time to work on Arnold Ventures research projects.

Fellows will need to have received a Ph.D. no earlier than September 2019 and no later than September 2024. Fellows may reside in a location of their choosing. Fellows residing in the United States will receive salaries of $120,000 with full benefits and annual salary increases. Fellows may choose to reside outside of the United States and receive fellowship stipends of $120,000.

Applicants are asked to provide the following materials:

Proposed research agenda during the period of the fellowship. Sharing on behalf of the animation project!

The Animation Project hosts free animation groups in every borough of NYC from 4:00-5:30 PM. The group is run by a professional animator and creative arts therapist and they help the group create an animated short within 12 weeks. During the 12 weeks participants will collaborate and work on different aspects of the animation pipeline and at the end of the 12 weeks we will screen the film.

Pleas share with your networks and program participants that fit the criteria!

In this discussion, Tonkia Brown of will discuss the impact that many school systems have on Black and Brown students. School for many Black and Brown students is often the first place where they experience some form of institutionalized racism and systemic oppression. These practices often have a criminalizing effect on students and may impact their world views, their individual self identities and how they show up in the external world that can lead to higher incarceration rates and self fulfilling prophecies of harmful narratives that they have internalized within a school setting.

Be sure to check it out.
