The immigration experience is a shared story, in which triumph and tribulation are oftentimes intertwined. Families like Jesรบs' (pictured) benefit from the free ESL classes offered by The Open Door NJNY Inc. The Open Door is honored to have Michael Luo as keynote speaker for our Fall Benefit on November 6th.

Just as The Open Door's mission is to "empower immigrants to reach their full potential to successfully integrate, participate, and contribute to the well being of our society," Michael Luo's recent book, "Strangers in the Land: Exclusion, Belonging, and the Epic Story of the Chinese in America" documents the struggle for full participation in American life. Luo's exploration of Asian American identity and exclusion reflects a broader American story, including that of the Hispanic immigrant.
Purchase your tickets online or at the door on Nov. 6 at 6:30pm and hear Michael Luo speak on the immigration experience in America! Make a stand for what YOU can do to support our new neighbors. Guests will be gifted a copy of Michael Luo's book, "Strangers in the Land: Exclusion, Belonging, and the Epic Story of the Chinese in America"!
