Watch floating leaves dance, each marking an end
dancing together joyfully, orchestra the wind
rejoicing time together, leaving as would leaves
times done, ensured future, smiling in the breeze.
My time ending, autumn nears, awaiting the winds
danced with companions, waved good bye to friends
reminisce how my tree shook, never lost a branch
gave shade to offspring, watch them learn to dance.
Harvest yields bounty, though bushels not be full
realize I'm no oak, to think would make a fool
someday, not need yield of harvest to live
will have years, with abundance of shade to give.
Few years ahead, quit producing, thus retire
believe my worth more than starting a camp fire
looking back, I see, there's nothing missing
sit peacefully, against tree, autumn is a blessing
