has made us proud – not just because she’s a champion, but because she’s an example of unbridled joy. Our feel-good neurotransmitters are firing after watching her win while carrying herself with confidence and kindness. 🥇⛸️

Life is about balance. Too much of even a good thing can have negative outcomes. At Matter, we take a grounded approach to well-being, recognizing that happiness and sadness coexist – and that’s what makes the human experience so rich. We aren’t trying to rid the world of the bad. Instead, we’re trying to encourage folks to seek that healthy equilibrium: activating a breadth of feel-good neurotransmitters (which create positive emotions) while taking the bad days in stride, leaning on what’s good to carry us through.

A wise man once said…for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This applies to physics…and also your brain. When you’re feeling low, our research has shown that certain activities can trigger your brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters and literally change your mood for the better. Here’s some science-backed inspo.

We’re currently hosting a payphone experiment to emphasize Matter’s mission of cannabinoids over cortisol. We placed one in San Francisco and the other in Abilene, Texas, and when you pick one up – it dials the other. The purpose is to highlight how much we all have in common, despite our different demographics and upbringings. It’s a celebration of shared humanity.

What if we told you individual happiness can have a positive impact on society?

Happier people are better equipped to help others. When our feel-good neurotransmitters are regularly activated, this builds neuroplasticity, which links up with higher levels of empathy, intelligence, and creativity – all traits needed to be an effective problem solver.

So a better world starts with you, and incorporating small joys into your routine can create a happier life.
