Happy Lunar New Year and Tết! Today marks the start of vibrant celebrations around the world as communities welcome the Year of the Horse, the animal zodiac sign known for high energy, speed and independence.

Lunar New Year is celebrated across many cultures, including Chinese, Korean, Mongolian, Tibetan and other East and Southeast Asian communities, each with their own rich traditions and customs. It is also Tết, Vietnamese Lunar New Year, which is celebrated with prayers and meals with loved ones.

If you're celebrating Lunar New Year or Tết, COMMENT your plans! Later this month, MJHS will proudly march in two Lunar New Year parades—one in Flushing, Queens, and another in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. When you see us, give a big wave!

While it’s cozy inside and many are dreaming of spring, our MJHS Isabella Center facilities management team has been working hard outside. Snaps and props to Joe and his team for keeping our campus streets, parking areas and sidewalks safe for residents, patients, visitors and staff. Snow is coming, NYC. If you wind up being outside when the fluffy stuff starts to fall, please be careful outside because roads, sidewalks and stoops will get slippery real fast.

If you’re able, lend a hand to older adults and medically-vulnerable people by shoveling and clearing a path wide enough for wheelchairs, walkers, canes and first responders. Clearing around fire hydrants is important, too. You’ll be a good neighbor and help keep your community stay safe!
